Randall Wilbur University of Phoenix Upon entering the University of Phoenix I had attended another University and I knew that if I was going to accomplish the many goals that I had in life I was going to have to graduate from college. I knew that if I wanted to continue to grow as a person that the best way for me to do that was to complete my degree and finish what I started. I was always taught that anything that is not growing is dead and I did not want to be considered the “walking dead. I knew that I had to continue my education. Even without my degree I had begun to rack up many accomplishments and had a pretty good Job. I was running a program that I absolutely loved and was blessed with many opportunities because of it. I gained some experience in grant writing and was given many opportunities to speak at graduation ceremonies, church programs, and in front of the mayor. I was able to communicate very well orally. My level of information retrieval was not great. I still had not yet learned to be an effective student.

Most of what I was doing came from natural ability. I had the talent without the work ethic. My ability to collaboration was not very strong either. I did certain things very well but struggled in the area of collaboration. I had not been taught how to work with others in a group effort. I was used to doing things on my own. I was undecided as far as my career goals went. The only thing that I knew for sure is that I wanted to Pastor a church one day. That may sound simple but it wasn’t for me.

To me Pasturing a church meant so much more than Just being able to be in front of people and encouraging them. I wanted to build an empire so that people could be inspired and actually live the life that would encourage them to live. I wanted to change the world. I wanted to be the absolute best at what I was doing and be the best leader that I could be. Because I am very creative and I think outside of the box I knew that I did not want people to be limited to the four walls of the church but I wanted the things that I would be teaching them to spill out into every aspect of their lives.

So much so that people could look at them and would know that there was something different about them. I believe that the way the program is structured really helped me mature and learn more discipline. If it had been set up any other way it might not have been as effective for me. The learning teams helped me grow and learn how to work with people that were not all in the same place. And this program also shows that you do not need a classroom in order to learn. I have really enjoyed my time at the University of Phoenix and I would recommend this school to anyone. If it was not or this school and this program I am not sure that I would be graduating right now.
