The following Is a list of guidelines, expectations, procedures and responsibilities for all lifeguards. Head Lifeguard and Senior Lifeguard responsibilities are also included in this list. In general lifeguards shall have NO visitors while on duty. You can hang with your homiest at other times. Make sure that you always punch in when you arrive to work your shift and punch out when your shift has ended. Errors and correction to time cards require approval and initials from a Head Lifeguard. PAY I know it’s fun but you also get paid! Lifeguards are paid every two weeks. A folder for each lifeguard is kept in the lifeguard room. Your tidemarks are kept here and your paycheck will be placed here for you to pick up. Florida state law also entitles you to a 10 minute paid rest break for every four hours of work. You may choose whether you would like to take a rest break or not. Rest breaks need to be coordinated with the Senior Lifeguard to make sure there is adequate lifeguard coverage. During a rest break you may not leave the club grounds. ATTITUDE Be happy, positive and helpful. Profanity is never acceptable. UNIFORM The uniform is a shirt, red or blue shorts, a whistle, and a hat when needed. The guard leaving the “High Chair” then switches into his/her new position and so on. Do not switch all the guards at the exact same time as this will lead to a few moments of confusion over who is watching the pool. 5. When switching guards in any position, the new guard must stand next to the guard being replaced and watch the pool while the other exits the chair. The exiting guard then watches the pool while the new guard gets situated in the chair. The new guard in the chair must then verbally acknowledge they are ready to take over.

At this point responsibility has transferred and the exiting guard can move to their new assignment. 6. All lifeguards watching the pool must have tube in lap, lack gathered in hand, harness around the neck and shoulder. 7. Members and guests should haven no conversations with the lifeguards watching the pool (“talk to the hand”) unless the issue is directly related to something going on in the pool. Non- pool related issues must be handled by the lifeguard in the lifeguard room or the unassigned lifeguard. 8. Lifeguards assigned to watch the pool need to scan the whole pool at all times.
