The united States government should have never intervened in the affairs of another country’s problems. With the Truman Doctrine in effect and the escalating conflict between Roth mans south Vietnamese United States government felt it was necessary to intervene. In 1 947 president Henry Truman created the Truman doctrine which States that the United States government would help any free people or nation resist internal or external subjugation by another country or non democratic government.

Sensing the Truman doctrine the United States government was able to enter into Vietnam conflict thus starting Americas involvement in the Vietnam War. United States government sent the first combat troops into Vietnam in 1965. They believed that if they got involved in the Vietnam War they would be able o stop the domino theory. Dwight D. Eisenhower describes the theory at the Presidential Press Conference on April 7 1954. “You have a row of dominoes set up, you knock over the first one, and what will happen to the last one is the certainty that it will go over very quickly. (Eisenhower 98) The government believed that if one country fell to the communist government its neighbors would then fall too. They believed that if Southeastern fell to communism south Asia may do the same, this domino effect would then affect American trading. American economy would decline causing the United States to not be able to maintain a well trained army without the money to do so in turn it would make the United States look weak. “The Ignited States regards as vital its national interest and to world peace and security in Southeast Asia.

When it seemed like we were beginning to lose the war Johnson sent in more troops in hopes to increase military pressure to a point at which further resistance would cost more than the enemy was willing to pay. Ho Chi Mini was a Vietnamese communist revolutionary leader who served as prime minister and president of the democratic republic of Vietnam. Mini fought not only for his freedom but the freedom and independence of his country.

In 1975 Mini led his country to independence from the French government, he also helped to reunify North and South Vietnam. Ho Chi Mini and his country tried to accomplish independence freedom and internationalism. I believe that the United States government should not have been involved in the Vietnam War, it was a civilian and their was no reason to intervene. While president Mongo Dint Diem was alive North Vietnam was only resorting terrorist acts and invasion tactics. Only after his assassination at the coup did he communists start making successful advances into Southern Vietnam.
