America to what people call “modern. ” The Industrial Revolution began in 1820-1870; it was of great importance to the development in the United States. The first Industrial Revolution occurred in Great Britain and Europe during the late eighteenth century. The Industrial Revolution itself refers to a change from hand and home production to machine and factory. Therefore because of The Industrial Revolution in America, it involved three important developments such as: transportation, labor laws, and technology. Since the Industrial Revolution the factory businesses have been booming because of the technological advances in America.
Whether it’s the contents of your sock drawer or the most fashionable article of clothing, advancements in the textile industry during the Industrial Revolution made mass production possible” (Typesetter 1 Since the invention of the spinning Jenny, the production of clothes became much faster. Therefore people did not have to make clothes by hand any more but by a machine. Another useful invention is the telegraph “before the age of smartness and laptops, people still used technology to communicate albeit at a slower pace with an Industrial Revolution invention called the telegraph” (Typesetter).

Thanks to the telegraph that was made during the Industrial period, people could contact each other from different places In a shorter period of time. This invention is an important for the future and now because everyone everywhere uses this device to contact others from further distances; this is a great device for business of personal preferences. Finally “in 1769, James Watt patented the steam engine and in effect created a new source of power. Early-model steam engines were introduced to drain water and raise coal from the mines, but the crucial development was the use of steam for power” InnovationsofthelndustrialRevolution 1).
The first steam engine was actually made by Thomas Newcomer, but Watt later improved it. This invention is also another important invention because people can now travel faster and it is so much easier for everyday use. Now because of the these technological advances calling, testing, writing letters, sending gifts across the country, and even traveling is so much faster, easier, and cheaper. During the time of the Industrial Revolution, transportation has greatly impacted society then and now, traveling is very important that it is inseparable. Historians and economists agree that any industrialization society needs to have an effective transport network, to enable the movement of heavy products and materials around in order to open up access to raw materials, reduce the price of these materials, and the resulting goods, break down local monopolies caused by poor transport networks and allow for an integrated economy where regions of the country could specialize” (Willed). Transportation is also responsible for the development of civilizations because of people and the transport of goods.
This development has changed the way people live, work, and travel. In many nations, a large amount of people travel daily for work, shopping, and social reasons. However, transport also consumes a lot of resources like time, fuel, materials, and land. “The first railroads in America were horse drawn. However, with the development of the steam engine, they quickly grew” (Kelly). In addition to these technological advances, the Industrial Revolution had has massive effects on cultures, society, and the economy politics, economics, culture, and society.
The coming of the steam engine has drastically changed what people do in everyday lives. Also because of the team locomotives there was a mass increase in productivity, an increase in workforce, and even job specialization. Therefore because of these advances, for so families or people it meant substantial improvements in family income, and for many others, the factory system meant the loss of jobs, income, and even lives. ‘The Transcontinental Railroad was finished and opened for traffic on May 10, 1869.
The transcontinental transportation network revolutionized the American economy because the transport of goods was made much faster, cheaper and more flexible” (TranscontinentalRailroad). Railroads even eloped shape the physical growth of cities and towns. Therefore because of the invention of the steam locomotives, having railroads makes traveling easier, and quicker; which is very convenient. Therefore because of the Industrial Revolution society has the conveniences that are needed for everyday life we can travel to many place faster and cheaper, this is a all thanks for transportation.
However traveling cost money people during the Industrial Revolution were paid very little, but now we have fair wages. When people moved to work in factories times were very hard people were paid less and worked long hours. However, because of Labor unions workers could get the comforts they need when working. “Even though employees had to work for as long as 16 hours a day; they were subjected to pressure, and even physical punishment, in an effort to make them speed up production. Since neither the machines nor the methods Of work were designed for safety, many fatal and maiming accidents resulted” (WorkingConditions1).
Therefore due to problems in the factories, people now get paid minimum wages, for overtime, and even when on leave when in an accident during work hours. Now the government has made laws saying hat employers have to look after the workforce and provide safety equipment and other things for them. “At the start of the Industrial Revolution none of these laws existed and so working in a factory could prove to be very dangerous indeed” (WorkingConditions1 Many people noticed how unfair and unsafe working conditions are.
Thus Factory acts then took place. For an example the Factory Act of 1874 stated that, “no worker is allowed to work more than 56. 5 hours per week. “Children as young as six years old during the industrial revolution worked hard hours for little or no pay. Children sometimes worked up to 19 hours a day, with a one-hour total break” (Childcare At the time, young children were prized for working at factories due to their small size which allows them to reach places that adults can’t.
Also, Factory owners had the advantage of being able to pay child workers less money. Working in factories was also dangerous for children. At the time most factories had no protective gear or supervision. The factories Were also always dusty and many children would die young because of the diseases they catch. However now children are required to go to school and Anton work at a certain age. Therefore since America has been Industrialized people are paid fairly and are treated fairly during work hours (most of the time at least).
Thus people can Thanks to the Industrial Revolution life is simple, advanced, and comfortable for everyday lives, thanks to Transportation, Labor Laws, and technology. This concludes that the Industrial Revolution had a high impact and significance on America today. Without the Industrial Revolution America would have not been modernized, so thanks to Industrialization America has advanced in technology, a vast mount of goods were being produced, which allows for those goods to be sold to the consumer at a cheaper price.
