Government Philosophy Assignment

Government Philosophy Assignment Words: 1316

My Philosophy about the united States Government When I think about the American government seven words come to my head and those words are “elf, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. ” Those words define what are government has been created for. It was created by the people for the people and today I think America is falling away from those beliefs that are founding fathers wrote so long ago. So how does America get back on track?

Well for one I think the American Government has forgotten that this country has been blessed by The Lord our God and In doing so I think America is suffering for It. That’s Just one subject that think is wrong with the American Government but I’m going to talk a lot more than just that. I’m going to talk about the good and bad of The Constitution, Federal and State governments, the political party system, Civil Rights, Taxes and government spending, Government control of the economy, Socialism versus Capitalism, and the Checks and Balance System.

Firstly, let’s talk about the Constitution of the united States. For over 200 years, the Constitution of the United States has served as the foundation for U. S. Government. Created In 1787, the U. S. Constitution establishes and defines the basic outlines of a national government. The U. S. Constitution has been and remains one of the most enduring political agreements in the history of the world. I think the Constitution is the best form of government in the world. The Constitution has set the foundation for America’s success. So why is the government wanting to change this?

I think if It’s worked since the beginning of our country there Is no reason we should change It. Secondly, let’s talk about the Federal and State governments. Both Federal and State governments have exclusive powers and shared powers which I think is a good wing. It’s almost Like the Checks and Balance System In that both have their own powers but neither of them Just dominate the other. For example, the national government can print money and declare war but the State government can conduct elections and establish local governments.

But both the National Government and State Governments can collect taxes, build roads, and borrow money. So I think both the Federal and State governments are well set up properly and have a great “checks and balances” where one doesn’t have more power over the other. Thirdly, let’s talk about the political party system. The United States has only two major political parties which is the Democrats and the Republicans. Although there are minor parties, none have been able to gain the support needed to win a national election.

In America, we have a two-party system where the Republicans and Democrats dominate the political scene. However, there is a growing trend in the United States for voters to be registered as independent. This group votes for different parties in each election. An Independent may vote for a Republican for president and a Democrat for senator. The mall purpose of political parties Is to Join 1 OFF ark to participate in and influence the government by having its members elected to a government position. Even though many people choose to be associated with a certain party, they don’t all share exactly the same beliefs.

Honestly to me I think the political party system is a good thing for America. It gives people a reason to get into politics and gives people to want to have a say in the government by electing people they want to be in the government. Fourthly, let’s talk about Civil Rights. Civil Rights are rights guaranteed by the Bill of Rights, the 13th and 14th, 15th and 19th Amendments to the Constitution. Examples of civil rights are freedom of speech, press, and assembly, the right to vote, freedom from involuntary servitude, and the right to equality in public places.

I think Civil Rights are great for this country because they stand for what the declaration of independence states which is that all men were created equal. Fifthly, let’s talk about taxes and government spending. This is where is start to disagree with the government and what they are doing. The national government is over seventeen trillion dollars in debt. That is Just ridiculous! How is America supposed to have a strong economy when we are seventeen trillion in debt? The answer to that question is we can’t. Then on top of all that they think raising taxes is going to help with the debt.

No that method Just will not work. The government needs to quit spending money. Especially on things they do not need to be spending money on. That’s what I think about taxes and government spending. Sixthly, let’s talk about the government control of the economy. The government this past decade has done a very poor Job at controlling the economy. Like I said earlier we as a nation are over seventeen trillion dollars in debt. Yet the government thinks spending will solve the problem. This Just does not make sense to me. If the government wants to gain control over the economy again we have to stop spending so much money.

If this trend keeps going the dollar is going to be worthless and then our nation will be in a world of hurt. But to me the government has been doing a poor Job of controlling the government and needs to fix it before the problems get worse. Seventeen, let’s talk about Socialism versus Capitalism. The philosophy of Capitalism is Capital or the “means of production” is owned, operated, and traded for the purpose of generating profits for private owners or shareholders. Emphasis on individual profit rather than on workers or society as a whole.

The philosophy of Socialism is each according to his ability, to each according to his contribution. Emphasis on profit being distributed among the society or workforce in addition to receiving a wage. An extreme form of socialism is communism which we as Americans do not believe in. Capitalism is a free-market economy while Socialism is wealth redistributed so that everyone in society is given somewhat equal shares of the benefits derived from labor, but people can earn more if they work harder. Means of production are controlled by the workers themselves.

So to me I’m all for Capitalism. Eighty and lastly, let’s take about the Checks and Balance System. The system of checks and balances is an important part of the Constitution. With checks and balances, each of the three branches of government can limit the powers of the power of the other branches to make sure that the power is balanced between them. Checks and Balance System is a very well thought out process and I think it works really well. It doesn’t give one branch more power over the other. In conclusion, I think the United States is still the best country in the world.

I also hind are government was created for the success of our country. I Just think some of the people in are government aren’t doing a very good Job and have forgotten some of the basic principles that this country was founded on. I think if we put our faith in DOD then everything will work out in the end even if our government does not believe this. The eight topics I talked about are huge parts of our government and our country. Some of them are fine but others need to be fixed. Overall are government is not going in the right direction and I’m afraid before long it will be too late to turn it around.
