The first nurse interviewed is currently a Clinical Director with a Master’s Degree in Nursing. The second nurse interviewed is currently the Nurse Educator with an

Associates Degree in Nursing. Although each role is vital to the team, the clinical director has a higher leadership role and is expected to ensure quality care by each member of the team; the educator’s main focus is on the nurses. In regards to each of their unique contributions to the team, each nurse states that every member plays a vital role in patient care. The clinical director has the educational background that has provider her tools necessary to lead an interdisciplinary team while the nurse educator relies on her work experience and hospice knowledge to assist her with training new and current employees.

When promoting quality outcomes for patients both nurses rely on their own personal knowledge of the field. The clinical director is responsible for each and every member of the team and their performance on a daily basis. It is important for her to have well trained staff. As an educator, you are responsible for providing each team member with the current and correct information needed to succeed. She will need to ensure that she is aware of all recent changes to Medicare and Medicaid guidelines and that she teaches all of the nurses correct documentation.

Hospice personnel utilize Emirs, computers and the internet, Ana cell phones Tort communication. Walkout all AT tense palaces, It would prove much more difficult for the nursing personnel to provide the best possible care to their patients.

Reflection After completing these interviews, I have become even more confident in my thoughts related to high standards of patient care, regardless of the life stage our patients are currently in. As young adults, our parent’s always teach us the importance of education and attending college, but I don’t know that we are all always receptive to that. This process has confirmed for me that continuing education and furthering your degree plan will open doors to higher level positions with higher responsibility included .

Not to say that all members of the team aren’t equally important, but the amount of education one has received will determine their function on that team and their ability to perform the various roles. Nurses continue to improve upon their knowledge and skill sets while receiving continued education; his benefits all members of the interdisciplinary team, as well as, the patients and families we serve. I now understand the role of the Hospice Clinical Director and the Nurse Educator. I can see the differences in their responsibilities, but don’t feel one is more important than the other in regards to patient care.

Personal professional experience plays a role in the success of the nurse in each area of their specialty; not necessarily Just education based background. I believe the higher the degree level, the higher the title and core of their responsibilities. Cost containment will always be an area of great concern for everyone in the latherer field. Many agencies rely on state and federal funding and reimbursement, meaning it is imperative for the members of the interdisciplinary team to remain conscious of their supply and equipment usage.

The nurses interviewed both state that they have selected individuals that are primarily responsible for this process; I agree with that decision. It is important to have only a select few monitoring cost containment in order to ensure the company continues to profit from the services offered to member of the public. Completing the interview process for both of the nurses listed has provided me a teeter understanding of the hospice field and the importance of being conscious of every aspect of care.

I feel that we may sometimes get caught up in our own day to day tasks on we don’t always take into consideration some of the underlying areas of concern that we may not be directly involved in. It is important for all members of the healthcare field to remain mindful of everything that goes into play when providing care to the public; the care itself, training the team members, documentation, ordering supplies, and most importantly, ensuring you are state and federally compliant in the day to day functions performed.
