Gender Differences in University Student Satisfaction University of Canberra Abstract A student satisfaction survey of 508 University of Canberra students was conducted to examine whether satisfaction (Campus Design, Environment, and Quality of Education) varied by gender. A 2 x (3) mixed NOVA indicated a within-subjects effect of student satisfaction which accounted for 17% of variance. Quality of education satisfaction was rated higher than Environment satisfaction which, in turn, was rated higher than Campus Design satisfaction. There was no main effect for gender and no-significant interaction between ender and satisfaction factor.

Future research could examine gender differences for other student satisfaction factors. Gender Differences in University Student Satisfaction Satisfaction can be conceptualized as the congruence between a person and his/her social environment (Teased, Ready & You, 2012). Micelle, Fogginess and Aback (2011 ) suggest-exploring gender differences-in-AS-is-important-as-it affects student performance and attrition rates. Teased-et-al. ,-(2012) state-that-females tend to report higher satisfaction than males. This may be explained by the females’ value systems.

From the-research-examined, the resent study proposes three-research-questions: 1 .
Does satisfaction differ between females and-males? 2. Does satisfaction differ between the three satisfaction factors? (Campus Design, Quality of Education, and Environment) 3. Is there an interaction between gender and satisfaction factor? Method Materials The University Student Satisfaction and Time Management Questionnaire (DUSTMAN; Neil, 2011) was used to derive three types of student satisfaction. A factor analysis was conducted on 15 satisfaction items that revealed three factors (Campus Design, Quality of Education, and Environment; see Table 1 ND Appendix).
Composite scores were created based on the mean of the items. Internal consistencies were moderate for Environment (4 items, ( =. 77) and Campus Design (2 items,-( = . 72) and high for Quality of Education (9 items,- ( = . 91). The three satisfaction factors were rated using a Liker scale (ranging from 1 very dissatisfied to 10 very satisfied) to rate response to questions such as “convenience of the campus location” and “quality of the staff who teach me”.
