The Organizing Function at Boeing Organizing is one of the four functions of management. It is in this function that the plans are beginning to move so therefore the organizing function is definitely different from the other functions of management. This is where top level management hands down positions and assign task to the individuals that possess the appropriate skills. Some organizations have procedure manuals or resource manuals created to information is distributed evenly to staff members. When organizing an organization, management carefully hand-pick team members for specific task.

The need for effectiveness and efficiency can only be done by creating a structure for their newly developed ideas and plans. The plan that is currently in place at Boeing will help them produce their products at the most cost efficient rate. (Boeing 2007) Boeing has been around for many years and they have had set backs and errors that placed them on the path of growth. From now on every move toward success may cost the company more money than they lost before. This why organization is necessary so with each operational choice, and even greater reward occurs for this large corporation. Boeing, 2002) Like other organizations Boeing has its’ own human resource department in place. Compensation structuring, reward policies and performance policies need to be uniform. Boeing faced problems with its employees when the union went on strikes regularly. (Lubove, 1997) Boeing is now relying on virtual team rather than solely depending on functional teams as they had in the past. Since Boeing is an international company, they have a central place that employees can rely on. Boeing, 2002) the human resource department at Boeing has one concern and that is the well being and productivity of their staff. The human resource staff members are skilled and knowledgeable to handle issues on ethics, or questions regarding policy and procedures. A representative of the human resource department should always be available to administer help. An organization that takes care of its employees shows a moral concern for things to be done right. Boeing is an organization that produces technology for the future.
There must be a plan to coincide with every idea brought forth. When a new idea for the latest product is presented, different steps are assigned to team members has been a proven success since they began. Every plan that is set in motion is there to save time, money, and utilize all available resources. Boeing 737 has been there most successful product. Boeing went from being one of the top market leaders to a struggling company. (Boeing, 2007) This downfall gave Boeings’ competitors the edge or the upper hand on the next airline.
Management realized that something had to be done and that’s when the idea for Boeing’s super jumbo, the 787 was implemented with continued improvements. Boeing has adapted to changes in communications and made adjustments throughout the years to keep up with the times. Every company knows that knowledge is power. A great deal of success comes from the accommodation of change. (Wikepedia, 2005) Boeing continuously trains their employees with the latest techniques and challenges that affect the company. The decision to constantly train is part of managements organizing function. (Boeing, 2007)
In conclusion, Boeing has utilized the organizational resources discussed and they are constantly striving for improvement. Boeing has a plan in place to fight back for the leadership in aerospace. To make the process of productivity better Boeing had to make several alterations. Through all the pitfalls management only had to make a few adjustments to adapt to the changes in today’s technical world. Management at Boeing have proven to be great leaders because they have kept their employees motivated, given them support in knowing that they have the skills and knowledge to produce a great product in a cost efficient way.
Effective managers view their staff as their most valuable resources.
