She also states her audience because she uses the ‘”we” in “we can do better. Pass the DREAM Act! ” (10) Marseille’s central claim is the passing of the DREAM Act her supporting reasons are a hope of a better future, a better education for immigrants just like herself, a chance to go to college, and she says that America can generate $2. 2 billion in net revenues by 10 years by passing the DREAM Act. “Our country is in crisis; iv??re trailing behind other nations… ” (4) She uses this so he can show that our country needs something to fix our economic crisis and she gives a solution which is the DREAM Act.

She doesn’t really have facts supporting her claims she just has her own experience since she is an immigrant and she shows emotion and compassion towards the immigrants who are struggling with getting an education in America. She says “Our own irrational laws restrict the return we can see on our investment… We won’t allow thousands of homegrown achievers to use their U. S. Educations. ” (6) This could show how America is holding back these students from success ND their not a debt to our world but like she says their more like an “investment’ (6) for a better future.

Handicap makes her audience connect with her emotionally by showing the faith and hope they share. “The American people elected each senator with the faith that they would live up to the ideals of our forefathers… Their vote on the DREAM Act will test that faith. ” (2)This would reach out to the voters and make them reflect in the world their living in and what they can do to make our world better to improve. Also she shows sympathy and opportunity with what the DREAM Act ill do “The DREAM Act gives DREAMers the chance to get a higher education, open businesses, create new jobs, and pay taxes. (7) Some analogies she used was ‘the Senate will be faced with two choices: jump on the opportunity to steer the country toward shared prosperity’ (5) because you could imagine yourself actually trying to steer the country to the right path and to a better future. The audience she is talking to could respond to her views by agreeing to when she says “our country in is a crisis” (4) because it really is and she explains a solution to the problem and the solution would be the DREAM Act.

Marlene builds up her credibility because she personally is an immigrant to the united States so it shows the audience that she had to struggle for her education and they would believe her when she says that We need the DREAM Act because she knows what she’s talking about. The intended audience could respond to the argument by getting motivated and understanding that our country needs a change that we need to give these students an opportunity for a better education and their hoping that congress passes it because that’s why they voted for them in the first place so they could solve their problems.
