A Description of the Gettysburg Address Assignment Words: 266

Created in freedom and devoted to the idea of liberty and equality. We are currently involved in a fight for our freedom. Trying to see if anyone in our country believes that all men are free and created equal can survive for long. We are at Gettysburg where we fought that battle. We’ve come here to honor the dead for what they’ve done here. It was here that these people gave their lives so that this new country might live. It is important that we dedicate this place as an honor to them.

However, the bigger idea is that we, the living cannot just dedicate this place. The courageous fighters, some still alive and some dead have dedicated this place. They’ve done more than we could ever do. The world won’t remember what we said here. But the world has to remember what the soldiers did here. It is for the living to complete their unfinished work. The people who fought here to end slavery and to make the words of deceleration ND independence meaningful have come so far.
