Recognizing cultural bias is a game changer, it changes everything, for example I have always assumed in preparing a test that you just come up with a set of questions or problems on the material that has been covered. But now I realize that I must not only come up with the questions but I must word them in such a way that my language is not confusing or insensitive to anyone.

The idea of being sure that the language in my classroom is gender neutral, and again being sure that I do not make any one feel inferior within the classroom. My language pattern has to be gender neutral at all times, I cannot have an assumption about anyone or group in my classroom. I have always operated on the notion that I treat everyone with respect , and I respect that person imply because they are human beings , I now understand the importance of me getting a full understanding of the cultural differences that will exist in my classroom .

I must be sure that every student feels comfortable in the environment. Appreciating the individuality of my student s regardless of their cultural and ethnic, racial and national background is key to the culture of my classroom . 1 cannot, nor should I allow my students to use derogatory words or language about another culture on my classroom. As I look back on my take away from this assignment I am able to see the importance of being able to provide a multicultural education to every student. If I am unable to do so I will not make it as an effective educator.

I also see the need for me to have a classroom that is culturally responsive to all of my students. I have to take into account the cultural values of my students.
