During the 18th century new farming systems created an agricultural revolution that produced larger quantities of crops to feed the increasing population. When rich landowners made profits they sometimes invested in industry. A efficient agriculture supported a larger urban population. But the agriculture revolution had some effects on us too. While fewer needed to grow more food other farm workers were put of work. Many could not afford the high costs of things or the new tools.
This means that some of them lost their farm, and had to become agricultural laborers without owning land of there own. In some places the poor were actually driven from the countryside which led to them having to seek work in the growing towns and cities in factories. Life in the factory was most challenging in the Industrial Revolution life. The factories were dirty and dangerous. They didn’t have any laws for the minimum pay or safety issues. The workers were paid low salaries that could barely cover their costs of living.
Their hours were long and they were not permitted any breaks. The managers and owners were very strict and if the worker was caught wondering off or slowing down they were punished. One positive effect of the Industrial Revolution was arbitration. Arbitration was when cities were built because of all the jobs the factories were offering. Many people wanted these jobs and went from farms to these new cities. They needed homes for these new homeowners so they quickly built make shift apartments. Even though the living conditions were poor arbitration was overall a great thing.
It supported factories and increased the economy and it set up a base for our economic growth. The Industrial Revolution improved Britain’s transportation with turnpike road, a canal and waterway, and a railway. During the Industrial Revolution Canals were built to transport raw materials and finished goods. Building canals created the knowledge to build level railways. Rivers were not always easy to navigate and did not always flow where goods were needed . Canals re man-made waterways. Canals allowed goods to be transported directly to a destination.
The railway industry developed rapidly once James Watt’s steam engine technology was applied to the railway. Six days of repair a year was not enough to fix the roads. Roads were difficult to navigate. In the sass the Turnpike was made. Roads were straightened made flatter and harder. Bridges were built. As you can all could see The Industrial Revolution had many impacts effects and positive effects in there system. For example the transportation that helped goods and needs to transport quicker, factory jobs that helped homeowners, and the agriculture.
