George Washington’s decisions and choice making would affect the future and since the constitution was only n place for a couple of years it was Washington’s responsibility to show how well the constitution should and will be followed and how well it will be in affect. During the whiskey rebellion, Washington had to make a choice to stop the rebellion. Hamiltonians idea was to raise and build an army. George Washington was hesitant in making this decision. Why? Because Washington believed that creating an army was not being prudent.

He thought that instead of taking action against the people right away he would he would create a system called voluntary obedience. This system would support the people’s freedom of choice and this is what Washington wanted because he didn’t what to prove tyranny like their British king. The people would voluntary themselves into the army instead of being forced to do something they didn’t want to do. George Washington was hoping that people would voluntary themselves to be in the army because they would have respect for Washington as a leader and respect for this kindness, and respect for the constitution and for the presidency.

On George Washington part this was prudent use of power. The last thing that George Washington wanted to do was to control the people out of fear. He proved no tyranny and no weakness. Washington also passed a proclamation to make people pay the taxes and if they rebelled they would be sent to trail in Philadelphia and not in Pittsburgh because Washington believed if they were trialed in the town they were from they would most likely know the judge and would be a friendship and unfair trial.

By having the people being trialed in Philadelphia scared people and made most of the people follow the law. This decision made by George Washington was a little harsh and strict but was still prudent because Washington gave them the right to have a trial (innocent until proven guilty) instead of just tossed into jail. Hamilton for the most part believed the opposite of George Washington’s ideas.

Hamilton believed that only fear of punishment would hold together a nation, and that the government should display this strength against the people, and that only rich and wellbeing ought to rule. Hamiltonians thinking wasn’t very balanced. He believed more in rower and having complete control over the people and jumped to conclusions in case of rebellion. This was coming to be closely identified as tyranny, and the people feared and hated tyranny, but George Washington didn’t take Hamiltonians plan and ideas right away, he gave the people a chance to redeem themselves.

By having Washington being hesitate on Hamiltonians ideas helped the nation in many different ways and the most important was continuing to try to make the nation a more united nation. Washington proved in the first few years of his presidency, that he was the best first fitted resident and was a very well prudent leader and never once took advantage of his power or the people and made not only decisions that would benefit him but the nation, the constitution, and the people as well.
