City Life vs. Farm Life City life and farm life can both have advantages and disadvantages as well. Living in a city means being around more stores, people, jobs, and all sorts of entertainment. Farm life, on the other hand, brings person closer to the nature. Every person decides for himself whether he wants to have a busy life full of entertainment in the city or a quiet and peaceful life on a farm.

But once again people make their choice based on their personality and their way of life where they would like to settle and live. Meanwhile, the differences in lifestyle, environment, and cost between city life and farm life make them unique. First, city life differs from farm life in lifestyle. There are a lot of forms of entertainment in the city. A person is never without somewhere to go or something to see. In addition to entertainment, there are lots of businesses and stores to accommodate everybody’s needs.

Meanwhile, a lot of people in the city have full-time jobs, concentrating on making a career. As a result, it could be very stressful to work and balance it with family time. Due to being pressed for time, people often consider having fast food, which can lead to bad health conditions and obesity. People most of the time are busy in the city. They are always in a hurry, going to the gym, work, shopping. Big city busy life never slows down, even during the night. At the same time there is a lot of crime in the city. Farm life, on the other hand, is much more relaxed.

It has a peaceful atmosphere, bringing a person close to the nature. In rural areas there are far less businesses and places of entertainment. People usually create their own entertainment, such as horseback riding, hunting, and watching the stars. Jobs in the country are very limited, an example of a popular trade being farming. Food choices in the rural areas are usually more fresh and more cost effective than food choices in the city. There are not many chain restaurants and fast food joints and many families take the time grow their own food and prepare all meals at home.

Rural areas have a more relaxes atmosphere and speed of life. People usually know each other, and there is no crime. Therefore, the differences in lifestyle between city life and farm life are significant. Second, the environment of the city is different from the environment of the farm. The cities are filled with cars and factories, which are the essential reasons to noise and pollution. Big cities are always overflowing with people. Because of this housing is very expensive, and apartments are the only affordable option for most people.

Moreover, there is never a place to park along the side of the road, and if a person did find a place to park it would be pay parking. Traffic is widely accepted as a part of a big city. Sometimes short commutes can take hours and metro stations are always crowded with people during rush hour. In the concrete jungle of the city, you can hardly find any green trees and oftentimes the smog greys out the sun. Housing is usually reasonable in rural areas, because there isn’t a very high demand for it, so almost everybody has their own house and backyard they can enjoy some peace and privacy with.
