The Tragedy of Desdemona Assignment

The Tragedy of Desdemona Assignment Words: 614

Desman is considered a tragic hero because she falls from a height of rookeries, suffers unexpectedly till her death, and this is ultimately the result of exceptional external manipulation from other characters. Desman, the wife of Othello, is firstly shown as a character with a lot of power because of the control she has over her successful husband due to his irrevocable love for her, Desman unexpectedly begins to receive emotional and physical abuse from her husband, sparking the beginning to her heroic tragedy, The audience witnesses Adhesion’s abuse from Othello as he strikes her (IV. . Piggy) and calls her a where (IV. Ii. Piggy) when he assumes she is unfaithful. This physical abuse is seen as unnecessary and inhumane because the reader knows Desman is in fact honest and loyal. This treatment is out of the ordinary and unexpected because Adhesion’s husband was recently unconditionally in love with her and proved so when he declared his love for her in front of the Duke as well as her father and other authorities (Elli. 190-196).

The audience sees Desman as a tragic hero because she has done nothing overlong and is unpredictably being attacked by Othello despite that she has only ever proven her love for her husband. Adhesion’s character demonstrates prosperity and pureness to her husband, lowers and audience. Her character experiences a fall from being courageous, honest and caring through suffering and then ultimately to her tragic death. Desman never failed to display her love for her husband; most significantly in front of the Duke she declared her love and chose Othello over her father (l. Ii. 179-188). Desman courageously stood up for herself while her husband continually abused her as well as she stayed true to herself and was honest about her feelings for Othello, even when given the chance to talk poorly about Othello wrongful actions (Ill. Iv. 1 58), Desman stayed faithful to her love (Ill,iv. 58). These attributes of Desman confirm how pure she is and shows that she falls from a noble height and suffers entirely from Othello hate up until she is murdered and her tragic heroism is ended.

The reason to Adhesion’s fall is from the poison that filled her husbands mind with the ideologies of her being unfaithful. The false information from so many outside sources caused Othello to eventually loose control and come up with his one and only solution, to kill Desman. Othello smothers Adhesion’s face in a pillow and despite her efforts in saying she committed suicide, he proceeds to say ‘Twats that killed her” (V. i. ICC)_ Immediately after killing Desman, Othello goes on to say that he murdered her for her infidelity that Ago brought to his attention (V. i. 170-179), dismissing her final plead Of innocence. This proves that the poisoning to Othello thoughts had already been done and Adhesion’s faith had already been sealed because Of the manipulation of external forces. After the ever-changing process of events, the manipulation of evil proves that Adhesion’s character is in fact, a tragic hero. Despite Adhesion’s pure heart, she unexpectedly suffers due to the poisonous evil incorporated throughout the lay, until her tragic death occurs.

These aspects of the story are significant because if the sense of evil hadn’t been so over-powering throughout, then Desman would have never had to endure the suffering and trauma she did. Her marriage and love with Othello would have continued and her life would have never had such a tragic fall from grace. Ultimately Adhesion’s life resulted in tragedy leaving her with the much-earned noble title of a tragic hero. Works Cited Shakespeare, William.
