Given the fact he was a Hindu follower for half of his life, Hinduism and Buddhism share many similarities and differences in their religions. Hinduism is a religion based on the caste system. The caste system is specific groups that you are assigned to by birth for the rest of your life. According to Verna, the caste system is needed to form framework of moral duties and help keep society organized. Hindus believe everybody has a specific place in the world and they shouldn’t overstep it.

The caste system is divided into five classes: Brahmas, Ashtray, Vastly, Shudder, and the untouchables. If you do your part in society right and get rid of all your worldly desires by meditation and such, you can achieve mimosa, which is the end of the cycle of rebirth or reincarnation impelled by the laws of karma. In other words, you spend your life in search of spiritual peace. The concept of Buddhism is to end samara and pass on into peacefulness. Samara is the constant cycle of rebirth caused by karma.

Karma is the result of a DOD or bad deed or thought of a living being. The Four Noble Truths are the main teachings of Buddhism. The Four Noble Truths explain ducked (suffering) and how to overcome it. The Noble Eightfold Path (the fourth noble truth) is eight conditions that, when you follow, lead to the end of ducked. The end of ducked is complete happiness and peace known as nirvana. Following in Buddha footsteps can achieve nirvana and end your path of rebirth and suffering. Reincarnation is a big part of Hinduism and Buddhism.

They both believe in allowing the paths set out by their religion, you can end reincarnation and achieve peace within yourself (nirvana/mimosa). Both religions meditate in temples. Through meditation, the individual searches for a deeper awareness and connection to the sacred by practicing this focusing technique. It is while meditating that you reach complete understanding. Karma plays a great deal in both religions. It is the blame to the reincarnation and it is why people devote their life to religion.

Despite their differences in beliefs, Hinduism and Buddhism are similar in many says and have had a great influence on one another throughout the centuries. Hinduism has categorized and shaped most Indians into caste systems, even today. Buddhism has influenced a lot of places in the Indian subcontinent and East Asia to be so much more peaceful. It influenced the growth and development of Indian art and architecture and contributed greatly to the practice of breathing and meditation in higher states of consciousness.
