Art critique Assignment Words: 1243

The moment I entered the gallery of Women’s Art I really felt something different.. Because it was cold, I really liked that temperature because it is very hot outside. Upon entering a smiling guard came to us and lectured us some rules to follow while visiting the gallery. I was really proud of my gender because of the works I saw. All the works are displayed properly and it was obvious that they are well taken care off.

Each painting has Its own meaning that amuses me, because they were deep and has an Interesting message when you put your heart while examining. There is one work there that caught my eye, It caught my attention because the painting shows a woman wearing a uncommon gown, the Philippine flag. I really like clothing and different styles of it that’s why I chose that painting to be my topic. The painting is titled “Tegucigalpa Eng Kaplan” by Jade Navaho Benign, she used water color on paper as her medium that gives the painting an amazing effect.

The painting shows the full appearance of a woman In the center, she has an angelic face. She has wings at her back that is rainbow colored, and wears a flowers crown full of white flowers tit green leaves around her head. The red part of her Philippine flag gown has flower details while the blue part that symbolizes peace has island details. The red and blue colors are in her skirt while the sun with eight rays and the three stars are in the upper part of the gown which is in her chest up to waist.

She maybe called the “Tegucigalpa” because she Is an angel and she wears the flag of our country so I had a conclusion that the Kaplan in the title Is referring to the country of Philippines. Alt shows the culture of Filipinos that women are also brave, they can guard an island without fears but only strength. It also gives this image of a respectful women because she does not show too much skin and is still pretty despite her clothing. The artist’s role is to show that women can also stand up for her country and can be a leader Just like any other men can do.

That we women are not Just about beauty but we are also strong and unbeatable. ATONE ART GALLERY Atoner’s art gallery is bigger than Miriam college’s, but do have something in common.. The beautiful art works that are made uniquely and passionately. The gallery has this quiet ambiance that made me really focused on each painting and splay. Every section has a different theme, I liked the right side of the gallery wherein there is a section that is lighted with neon lights and has this paintings of funny sexual themed things. They have green meaning but still was painted beautifully.

There Is also a Jewelry display that caught my attention, the necklace that is designed with human fingers, I don’t know if it is real but I hope its not because it really socked me. It was said in the caption that it was preserved so we assumed that it is real and was made a long time ago while in the time wherein cannibalism was popular. Our imaginations really went running that moment and it was fun because of some Jokes at the side. Going back to the critique, even though my favorite section was In the right part of the gallery, I have picked my favorite painting on the left.

It Is ca e “Damon” Dye Antlers Delegate. It Is a plotting a cathedral Tanat looks very ancient and looks very similar to what we have here in our country. I thought that the painting also involves the idea of a festival because of the bandits vertically painted across. The main colors of the painting are gold and brown Just like the colors of an actual cathedral. I chose this painting because it reminds me of my religion and the way we celebrate whenever there are festivals. The fun Filipino games, native songs, and smiles of Filipino citizens that are very priceless.

The painting really reflects to the culture of Filipinos that are very hospitable and very bubbly. It makes viewers remember how we should respect the cathedrals because it is the place where we give thanks and apologizes to our God. It shows us that we should continue this kind of culture and enrich it more by adding more happiness to it. The artist’s role here would be to remind Filipinos that we should value our tetrahedral and remember to worship our Lord with happiness through colorful festivals.

UP BARRAS MUSEUM UP’s museum is the most different among the three for me, because the building itself is unique. Outside the museum, there is this statue of a chicken feet that really made me wonder of what it symbolizes. When I entered the museum, I really felt peaceful because of the displays I saw, but what really amazed me is the stairs in the center. We were only allowed to visit the second floor. On that floor, I noticed a section that has a theme of “as Angela Eng Bats” It really shows some issues about our society and government nowadays.

All the painting in that section are there for us to have a deeper thought about what is happening in present. I have picked a painting by Emmanuel Grabby titled “Triptych”, he used oil on canvas as medium. It is a painting divided in to three portraits. The first part was a portrait of our former president Joseph Stared with his thumb up. His background is color pink that really showed the color of his polo that is colored blue. In the middle part was a man that is battened up, Hanging on his neck was a card that has the word “senates”, he has loot in portions of his face and really looked in pain.

The last portrait was Gloria MacDougal Arroyo’s the president before our latest Benign Aquinas Ill. She has this smile on her face that make me think that she has no problems at all. The oil really gave a good effect on the portraits because it really looked realistic. I had this idea that the message of the painting is for us to see that the bigger criminals are not suffering for what they did, but those who are little people that don’t have popularity in society are suffering so much for the crimes that wont measure more than the rimes that the two former president made.

The painting really showed our culture of being brave to what our feelings say, we are not afraid to do things that will help a million people than to Just keep quiet and help those few who are suspects due to our suffering and pain. The artist’s role here would be to give people an idea on what is really happening and the truth, that the powerful are slowly taking over Justice. We should stand up and make things right. I m really thankful that I saw This painting because it made more awake on the issues of our government.
