POVERTY by definition of the oxford dictionary is “being poor or scarcity or lack therefore the lack of basic human needs, such as clean water, nutrition, health care, education, clothing and shelter, because of the inability to afford them”. Everyday 2, 5000 people die because of poverty and of that number 16,000 are children. How can our world survive beyond the 21st century when the future is dying before it even began? As a fellow child in this world I wish to voice my concerns over the amount of children who die because of poverty and what can be done to prevent this epidemic from continuing .
I am currently studying Business management and Information technology. This relates to this theme of poverty among children because the business world can help stop poverty. This is so because if more businesses are set up then more parents can be employed, these parents can then provide for themselves and their families. It is said that if we want to see change, change must begin with us. Because of my areas of study my desired area of work is to be a business manager. Managing my own business means that I am the one initiating the change that I want to see.
The theme of dying children is one that is deeply personal to me . my early childhood years was one filled with hardship and stride because of poverty. getting up not knowing if I will eat today . now much better of than when I was younger I want my life to be filled with service to my fellow youths who see no way out of their current situation’s. I want to know that because of me some child doesn’t have to die today or tomorrow, I want to know that no child goes to bed hungry. I want a world where children no longer have to die because of poverty, a world where such a word is no longer needed in our dictionary.
