On a national average the world uses 87. 8 million barrels of crude oil on a daily basis. In 2000 it was estimated that the US alone consumed nearly 20 million barrels of oil a day, which is about 5% more than similar nations (Friedman 195). Oil consumption is only going to increase until it peaks, then it will steadily decrease as oil supply goes down. It is predicted that oil consumption will peak by the year 2019 (Defers 7). Crude oil when burned emits toxic gases like carbon monoxide.

These gases are harmful to humans and the environment. Crude oil will eventually run out if it continues to be used at the rate it is now. Crude oil comes from the remains of prehistoric plants and animal remains from thousands of years ago. It will take the earth thousands of years to regenerate more crude oil. Once crude oil is gone, it is gone for the current generation, as well as future generations. In Kenneth Defers book Beyond Oil, he explains how for years during the sass’s up to the sass’s America was the leader in oil production (17).

These days the Middle East is the leader of oil production in countries like Saudi Arabia and Iraq (“Middle East”). The Middle East is very unstable and an unreliable source for oil. For example, look at the situation in the Middle East with terrorist attacking the US embassy. This is causing prices of fuel to rise all over the US and other parts of the world. It seems like there is nothing people can do to escape the high prices and other issues with fuel these days. However, there are alternatives like EYE ethanol and bodiless that can help to put an end or decrease in these issues.

These two sources are also sources that can be run in today’s conventional gasoline and diesel engines with in some cases little to o modifications. Alternative fuels such as eye ethanol and bodiless need to be more widely used in America because it would lift foreign dependence on foreign oil, give more work to the struggling, American economy, costs little and is easy to convert, and does not harm the environment as much as gasoline or diesel. EYE ethanol and Bodiless are both alternative fuels that come from natural sources. Therefore it is renewable, unlike fossil fuels.

Ethanol is grain alcohol derived from corn, switch grass, sugarcane, and other renewable sources (Ethanol FAQ). There are even ways garbage can be made into ethanol. To make ethanol corn or other sources are ground up and distilled. This process is very similar to the distillation of alcohol and the final product is similar to alcohol such as Jack Daniels (Nerd 59). The final product of the distillation is pure ethanol which is very flammable. It is so flammable that it has an octane ratio so high that it is not suitable for the average vehicle.

Pure ethanol has an octane ratio of about 105 to 113 (Nerd 58). Octane is the rate fuel burns at a given compression. If too high of an octane is used it could cause a ping or explosion of fuel in the combustion chamber. Engine ping is not good and could cause engine damage. An engine needs to burn fuel not explode it. A motor with high compression, sun as a sports car motor, needs a enlarger octane orator sun as Y or It may ping. Used cooking oil from restaurants can even be made and recycled into bodiless. Unlike ethanol, bodiless can be run in its pure form with no ill effects on most diesel engines. Ethanol and bodiless come from renewable sources that are abundant and suitable as an alternative fuel source to gasoline and diesel. One of the biggest reasons America needs to start using alternative fuels is to lift dependence on foreign oil. The Middle East, as stated before, is the biggest supplier in the world of crude oil. The Middle East is very unstable and is one reason the US needs to get away from foreign oil.

Through the years the Middle East has been through many religious wars between religious groups like the Sunnis and Shiite Muslims (“Middle East”). Also wars like the gulf war of the ass’s have contributed to the Middle East being unstable. This unstableness causes oil prices to rise and causes oil shortages. Another reason the US needs to find an alternative to Middle Eastern oil is most countries of the Middle East do not like America very much. American involvement in wars such as the modern day Iraq war put a strain on the United States and Middle Eastern countries relationships.

Most people of the Middle East think America is corrupt and out to hurt them. In reality the US is only trying to help them. This hatred towards America causes Middle Eastern countries to charge the US top dollar for crude oil. If America would start to utilize more alternative fuel sources it would cut down foreign oil penitence greatly. Dependence would greatly be cut down due to the fact that many alternative fuels like eye and bodiless could be produced in America by predominant American resources. This would possibly even make oil prices drop due to the law of supply and demand.

If oil demand drops so will the prices. Another reason America should be pushing for alternative fuels is it could potentially help the struggling economy. As stated earlier, ethanol comes from crops such as corn. America is one of the biggest suppliers of corn. If ethanol was more widely used, it would give many Jobs back to the American people. Jobs like farming, transporting of crops, and production of ethanol and eye would all increase in need. Corn and other crops, however, are not the only ways ethanol is being produced. Ways like Celluloses ethanol and ethanol from algae are in development and look very promising.

Celluloses ethanol is made from things like unusable cornstalks, garbage, and even old tires. These products are heated up to high temperatures and the byproduct can then be turned into ethanol. Ethanol from algae is produced when algae is grown in reactor tubes and fed waste CO from heavy CO emitters such as power plants ran by coal. Oil can then be extracted from the algae and turned into ethanol. Algae can potentially produce thousands more of oil per acre then crops can (“1 Next-gene Blouses to Drive Beyond Gasoline”). I nose two ways are very assuring and also will provide more work to the US economy.

Jobs like development and production of algae and Celluloses ethanol are growing in demand. The final way the American economy could benefit from alternative fuels is in the conversion process. Parts will need to be produced, developed, and sold in order to convert cars to run on ethanol and bodiless. This would be very beneficial to auto parts producers and tillers like auto parts stores. The American economy would highly benefit if Alternative fuels began to be more widely used. A great thing about eye and bodiless is it would not be very difficult to convert cars to run on them.

The main issue with eye is more fuel is needed for a vehicle to run correctly. EYE will cause an unmodified vehicle to run lean or not get enough fuel (“EYE Vehicles”). The motor running lean will cause the check engine light to kick on and could cause motor damage over a long period of time. A Fleeted will need to be installed on newer vehicles with fuel injection and computers. A Fleeted is, simply, a computer controlled module that tells the motors fuel injectors to pump slightly more fuel into the cylinders of the motor (“EYE Vehicles”).

A Fleeted can be easily installed by anyone with minimal mechanical ability. Older vehicles with carburetors need different modifications and are a little bit more complicated but can be done by most people with car knowledge or by a mechanic. The first thing that should be taken care of is rubber fuel lines should be replaced with either steel lines or urethane. Ethanol will eat away at rubber lines and could cause fuel leaks and also gum up the arboretum. Most newer vehicles fuel lines are compatible with eye. The next thing needing modification on an older vehicle is the carburetor and fuel pump.

Both the fuel pump and carburetor will need to be rebuilt using seals and gaskets compatible with eye. New carburetors and fuel pumps comparable with eye can be purchased but usually cost more than a simple rebuild. The carburetors Jets will also need to be changed to a slightly bigger size to deliver more fuel to the engine. However research should be done before conversion to make certain the diesel motor being used is compatible with diesel. This information can be found by contacting the vehicles dealer or online.

Most parts needed for conversion can be bought at most local auto parts stores or online and, in most cases, can be done at an affordable price. Automakers are even producing flex fuel vehicles or vehicles that will run on either eye or gasoline. It costs automakers less than 150 dollars to produce flex fuel vehicles and adds little to no cost to the consumer. General Motors has been producing flex fuel vehicles since 2001. Ford and Chrysler soon followed (EYE Vehicles). Converting a vehicle to run on either eye or bodiless can a simple task in most cases and is not all that costly.

The use of eye and bodiless would be favorable to the welfare of the earth. The use of eye and bodiless along with technology advancements in cars to make vehicles more efficient could also show an impressive drop in greenhouse gases. Things like active fuel management, created by General Motors, save fuel by shutting down a few f the motors cylinders while at cruising speed like on the highway.

Then once power is needed again the cylinders are reactivated instantaneously. This will lower emissions, simply because less fuel is being burned. EYE and bodiless if used widely could dramatically lower emissions and greenhouse gases emitted from gasoline. Even with all the good things about ethanol and bodiless there are still critics out there who think otherwise. Many think that if these fuels become more mainstream that it will dramatically raise price of crops like corn and possibly cause food shortages. This would be true if ethanol was only being made from corn.

New ways of producing ethanol is being discovered all the time. Ways like Celluloses ethanol and algae ethanol, as talked about earlier, are changing the way ethanol is produced and will not cause food shortages. The next way critics put down these alternative fuels is by saying more conventional fuel and fossil fuels are being used in production of alternative fuels then actually are being saved in the long run. This may be true in some senses. However, the more alternative fuels become mainstream the more they can be used in production.

For example the trucks that haul eye or bodiless have diesel engines which could be run on bodiless. The final reason critics are against eye and bodiless is they think it is bad for cars. This is a myth. EYE burns much cleaner than gasoline and puts less carbon deposits in the motor. This meaner an engine will stay cleaner inside and last longer. Bodiless also runs much cleaner than conventional diesel does. It also lubricates the motor when burned (Nerd 95). This in return gives more life to a diesel motor. Both eye and bodiless are more efficient when burned. Better efficiency allows for better engine tuning.

This results in longer engine life and better fuel economy. Critics need to think broader and do more research before they criticize these perfectly good alternatives. Lifting dependence on foreign oil, supplying more work to the struggling, American economy, converting to eye or bodiless is not very difficult, and harmful pollutants being cut down are all reasons America should push for the use of alternative fuels like eye and bodiless. EYE and bodiless both come from natural sources and are renewable. The use of these fuels would lift America’s dependence on the unpredictable Middle East.

Also hose fuels would help to increase the Use’s struggling economy by increasing Jobs and revenue. Equally important these alternative sources are not hard to convert to and would greatly reduce greenhouse emissions put out by gasoline and diesel. Only a fool would not use alternative fuel.
