In some cases, this stress can ruin a person’s personal and professional life. Stress can consume a person! I will speak from personal experience on lifestyle stress. When was about 13, I began to have migraine headaches. To the extent that I was having them everyday for weeks at a time. I had no idea what the trigger was and neither did my doctor. After one migraine lasted for 2 weeks, day and night, my family doctor sent me to the neurologist. He ran test after test without any luck and he finally told me that there were no visible reasons for my grains and that I should expect to have them for the rest of my life.

I couldn’t find out why my migraines were so terrible and I could only treat them with medication and sleep. Twelve years later I found out what the true cause of my migraines was. Stress caused me to have migraines that changed my life. Years after age 13, I began to experience more stress and it will take this entire paper to explain it. At the age of 12 met the man that would go on to marry. We went through some very tough times as a couple and the stress just piled on. The migraines increased and the aging began. In 2008 when I was 18 years old, he cited to go into the military.

After always being together we were split up. A few months later, right after I’d turned 19, he came home from training camp and we got married. Until now, I had no clue of the stress the military can put on a family. My migraines were at an all time high and found myself having to hide from the world to prevent them. Our married lifestyle was taking a toll on my body. It was stressful to be apart of a marriage that was long distance. Unfortunately we didn’t last and our divorce finalized this month. Since this course, I’ve been able to kick back on our life together and legalize why the marriage was a trigger for my stress. Ivied an unhappy life and that was my cause for stress that increased my migraines to the point were medication couldn’t contain them. When people live an unhappy or just unhealthy lifestyle, it can cause stress to effect the body. An article from WebMD. Com has a list of effects on the body from stress. After reading this article, gathered that we may sometimes be mentally in denial about being stressed out but our body doesn’t lie. One problem that this can cause is misdiagnosis. I a person is stressed, the only ay for the doctor to help is if he/she knows exactly what the problem is.

The affects are as follows: Forty-three percent of all adults suffer adverse health effects from stress. Seventy-five percent to 90% of all doctor’s office visits are for stress-related ailments and complaints. Stress can play a part in problems such as headaches, high blood pressure, heart problems, diabetes, skin conditions, asthma, arthritis, depression, and anxiety. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) declared stress a hazard of the workplace. Stress costs American industry more than $300 billion annually.

The lifetime prevalence of an emotional disorder is more than 50%, often due to chronic, untreated stress reactions. This is why we must be careful when managing stress triggers. In most cases, the one lifestyle issue that causes stress is laziness. Exercise can change a persons life. Just doing a mini workout can make the difference in being stress free vs. over weight and unhealthy. Exercise alone can make this difference because people that don’t workout tend to have less energy and people that are over weight are unhappy because Of their appearance.

Therefore, exercise has more than one affect on stress management. In the image to the left, observe the difference in Steve from one size to the other. He appears to be much happier at a healthy weight. Sometimes we are affected by things that never noticed. Even I have a side by side when I lost weight and the look on my face is completely different. I never realized that we literally wear our stress on our shoulders. An article from resonated. Due discussed a few of these issues and I’ll expand on them. I’ve noticed that a huge factor in stress is the fact that people don’t have control over their own destiny.

In corporate America, most people just go with the flow. They quickly lose sight of the fact that God put us here for a purpose. There is a Youth video that I listen to for motivation and in one part it talks about living instead of existing. I think this is a major issue when it comes to stress because people don’t take life by the horns. We are so use to working to pay the bills that we forget to play to relieve some stress. Work can cause a lot of stress and we have to have something in place to counteract that stress. Alcohol and smoking is another lifestyle cause for stress.

When we go to the doctor for a checkup it is always on the list of questions and some people onto understand why. Not only does it cause issues with medication but it also gives the doctor an idea of problems to look for in the future. Most of the time people smoke and drink because they are stressed. It becomes a way of dealing with the issue rather than facing it head on. By ignoring the issue, it only gets worse and eventually leads to more stress and more health problems. These health problems can lead to, lung cancer, weight gain/loss or liver cancer. Smoking due to stress can also lead to health problems for the people around you.

This is why it is so important to discuss stress with a actor so that these other problems can be avoided. Alcohol and smoking is never the answer. I worked with and been friends with several people that don’t know how to manage money. Most people feel like money rules the world. Even our country is in debt so of course it would be hard for Americans to learn to manage their own money. People live beyond their means and purchase things that they couldn’t afford. When money has been mishandled, it can lead to living without necessities and losing things that a person has worked their entire life to acquire.

After viewing it this way, I can see how this would dead to stress. In order to avoid stressing about finances, it is important that people develop a plan. It doesn’t take long to sit down and work out a budget. It’s ridiculous to stress over things that we have control over. We can’t account for every financial obstacle that we would face but we could be prepared for most of them. Time management is another lifestyle factor that causes stress. Procrastination leads to failure and failure leads to stress as well. Sometimes we have the misconception that we have more time than we actually have.

When things are planned and done on time, it can cause stress that makes there aspects of life harder. Procrastination can be a college students worst cause of stress. I am guilty of waiting until the last minute to do an important assignment and each time it has shown in my work. This is why it is important to manage time properly. Time can be more valuable to a college student than money. During this course have learned that stress can only lead to more stress and the last thing I want to do is cause stress that could’ve been prevented. God placed us here with a guide and when we do encounter stress, we can easily go to him in prayer.

This is easiest way to get past lifestyle stress and it s free. Have turned to God each time that I’ve stressed about something and sometimes it seems like nothing happened. In recent weeks Vie learned that God can only take the stress if we are willing to give it up. My Pastor talked to me about how to go to God in prayer. He taught me that it is best to pray about the problem, activate my faith and move forward as if Hess already answered my prayer. I also learned that I have to believe that even if God never shows up in my situation, must have faith that He can. Now try to take my stress to God and leave it there.

The faith is activated and I’m moving forward. This course has taught me so much about myself. It seems that I had been walking around life with the lights turned off. I never noticed the stress that was bringing into my own life. Had someone else told me this would say that they’re wrong because I never realized that my lifestyle causes my migraines. I’m one that has to learn the hard way. People can tell me but have to come to the realization on my own. Am finally waking up and trading in the life that live for the life that I want. Am so lucky to serve a God that can help me turn it all around.

I don’t remember who told me this quote but years ago omen said to me, “with any given moment, there’s a chance to turn it all around. ” Here I am at 25 years old finally understanding. I know that there is no way to completely eliminate stress but I am doing all that I can to prevent it. I’ve learned to handle stress smart, not hard. Stress leads to so many other problems that we fail to realize. In writing this paper I began to think that I want to help other people wake up and see stress for what it truly is. Stress is a disease like cancer and we have to cut it out. A new life wont start itself, we have to actively shape our lives.
