Surviving College Assignment Words: 660

About twenty-five minutes after the professor began his lesson I had become drowsy and about to fall asleep. I tried to stay up but couldn’t resist. I awoke thirty minutes later to the ringing of the dismissal bell. The class was over, and I had felt horrible knowing nothing about what the class just learned. When picked my classes for the first time looked for the ones that peaked my interest.

About a week into the semester, knew that failure for most of those classes was inevitable and was I right. By the next semester I had learned to look for the best professors on campus. Always thought I didn’t need the help from my professors but was wrong. The first time went to one of these. Couldn’t believe how much had learned in such a short amount of time. Homework might seem like a waste, but it is one of the main ways to learn and understand what’s happening in the class. Given the realities of dorm life, it is the worst place to study because of the comfort and distractions. It’s far too easy to wander across the hall and talk to your neighbor, or to have Backbone on while you glance back and forth from your book to the screen. Try doing the homework at a library. I remember thinking that homework was just the worst part of the day and just pointless. Would always wait till the last moment of the day to actually do it, so it never sunk in.

Leaving me clueless when it came to test day.
