Health and safety at work Act (1974) (WASH) – This Act requires teachers to provide a safe and healthy environment for themselves and their learners. This requires teachers to undertake risk assessments before running the ours and also carrying out active risk assessments throughout the course and remove or reduce risks where appropriate. This also covers knowing where the fire exits are located and the evacuation procedures should the fire alarm sound.
Teachers should also be aware of how to report any incidents especially if they teach in different establishments as they may have different reporting procedures.
