At the end of the unit, you will be creating a Mandela and an autobiographical essay that reveals some aspect of your life. Quick Writes: You will be given a series of quick writes that will help you In your essay. These will be turned In as part of your grade for the Mandela Project.
Also Included In this will be assignments relating to autobiographical readings that we will be discussing In class. (50 points) Mandela: using activities In class, you will create a circular Mandela that contains five symbols that are representations of who you are, what you stand for, an experience that has shaped you, or demonstrates the “essence” of who you are. The Mandela should be vivid in color, neat, and utilize the space of the circle. It should be as artistic as possible.
This is not meant to be a collage of computer generated images, which you can use, but incorporate those images into a design that is unique. (50 points) Essay: using the quick writes and your Mandela as the basis for your writing, you will create an autobiographical essay that reveals a significant aspect of your life. There are many good approaches to telling your story. Experiment with storytelling. Use these approaches as a starting point for writing your essay.
