Works over cellular or radio modems that support TCP/IP protocol Description: Description: Facial_recognition_system. A facial recognition system is a computer application for automatically identifying or verifying a person from a digital image or a video frame from a video source. One of the ways to do this is by comparing selected facial features from the image and a facial database. It is typically used in security systems and can be compared to other biometrics such as fingerprint or eye iris recognition systems. Some facial recognition algorithms identify faces by extracting landmarks, or features, from an image of the subject’s face.

For example, an algorithm may analyze the relative position, size, and/or shape of the eyes, nose, cheekbones, and jaw. These features are then used to search for other images with matching features. Other algorithms normalize a gallery of face images and then compress the face data, only saving the data in the image that is useful for face detection. A probe image is then compared with the face data. One of the earliest successful systems is based on template. Communication is a the key when it comes to criminal justice. Technology is always changing in and due to the current technology and its continuing advancement in the way people communicate, the criminal justice system must also enhance its communication by keeping up with current and upcoming technology. It is very important for the criminal justice system to keep up with the new and advancing technology when it comes to communication, because communicating effectively can have positive results in an investigation. There are databases in the criminal justice system, which re specialized and its communication capabilities have been impacted in a very big way when it comes to technology.

AS (Automated Identification Fingerprint System), facial recognition, live scan, mobile data terminal and iris scan are some of the current uses of technology within the criminal justice system. However, there are some positive and some negative effects with the use of these new technologies when it comes to communication within the criminal justice system, such as with the ASS and facial recognition. Technology is advancing rapidly. There are pros and cons of the advancements but eventually the people will learn to deal with the new advancements and overcome whatever obstacles each individual may face.

As time goes on and the advancements become more advanced and proven to the courts that they will hold up as evidence they will then be used and people will become more knowledgeable of each system. As the advancements are becoming more advanced it will continue to raise the purchase price making them much more difficult to get but well worth every penny spent on them. Positive effects of new technologies on communication and negative effects of new technologies on communication re always a major factor with new technology. Each product is process and examined and it focus on assuring that the negative impacts are corrected.

The impact on patrol officers is reflected in increased proactive work (I. E. , traffic) and investigative work not typically the province of patrol, changes in communication patterns between line officers and dispatch and authority relationships with supervisors. The ways in which officers alter and shape their uses of MET technology to preserve their autonomy, maintain solidarity with their co-workers and “manage” accountability is analyzed as a form of assistance to the potential of this technology to fragment work assignments and control information.

After all the research about new technology if decide to become a police officer I would enjoy using any technology available because any system that can help a case is worth using. Many agencies have decided to embrace the promise of technological in the criminal justice system. The evolution of technology directly affects the way the criminal justice system operates at fundamental levels. A wide range of technologies are employed in support of the justice system, including telephony, database management software, computers, automobiles, and weapons.

The adoption and implementation of technology also directly shapes the policies and practices of the justice system. For example, the development of modern communications and transportation technologies in the early 1 sass increased the response capability of police and changed citizen calls for service. Computers and cellular tech analogies have increased the capacity of data processing, information sharing, and communications within and across The increasing societal dependence on the Internet and agencies. Computer-mediated communications have led law enforcement to develop lolls to investigate offenses online.

Thus, technology plays a pivotal role in the justice system, though a majority of researchers focus on the implementation and effect of technologies in law enforcement agencies. As you can see technology grows as the years progress. Different programs are also made and introduce when needed to provide the best quality functions to help those that can benefit. Each program has its benefits from video, fingerprints, radars to additional technology. Technology used with law enforcement is as important as the use of a smart phone or personal digital assistant (PDA) requires utmost responsibility and command of your device.
