Even the most rational approach to ethics is defenseless if there isn’t the will to do what is right. There is no way that we can have one set of ethics for home and another set for business, we must have a clear objective of the critical thinking for each phase of life and they must be thought out ethically and morally.
Critical thinking, thus, helps develop our own moral code, since it makes us think for ourselves and be rational while judging both ourselves and others. Critical thinking plays a large role in ethics because it is the process by which we determine for ourselves whether or not something is right or wrong. In a sense, critical thinking is a form of analysis and determination of fact vs. fiction, identifying the unknown, coming to an understanding, etc…?? By taking the path of a critical thinker, a person develops a mental process of evaluation which helps to determine their ethical standards.
Critical thinking and ethics are not necessarily directly related to one another. The two can be looked at individually and not used together, but you will soon be labeled a sociopath if you use one without the other. When you’re trying to solve a problem and you don’t include the ramifications as part of the thinking process or how it will affect the people and the world around you, this is when ethics becomes intertwined with the thought process.
