I chose to write my research paper on this topic because I learned it’s so easy to maintain a healthy lifestyle and the benefits are life changing. For example, you don’t need to spend a bunch of money on special healthy foods or a gym membership. You can simply eat some vegetables and use the stairs instead of an elevator, or walk somewhere instead of driving. Little actions like this can help your body fight off and prevent diseases, make you happier, and help decrease your obesity or get rid of unwanted body fat. Eating healthy and exercising can help you prevent diseases.

For example, being active keeps blood flowing smoothly, which decreases the rate of cardiovascular sissies. Also, being “in shape” and healthy helps prevent stroke, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, depression, and certain types of cancer and arthritis. (Fitness) Furthermore, maintaining a healthy lifestyle can help your immune system by providing it with healthy nutrients. (Morris) In addition the body needs certain nutrients to survive such as vitamins. Unlike healthy fruits and vegetables, Junk foods don’t provide these vitamins. They are necessary because they help your body grow and function properly.

Not getting enough healthy foods can lead to growing robbers that can lead to more diseases. (Image) I asked my mom, who works for the American Dairy Association, if children today are unhealthier then children who lived about ten years ago. She told me that in today’s society, obesity rates have tripled. I then asked her what main things today could cause problems. She told me that today, people have been eating more fast foods and spending too much time sitting on the couch rather then playing outside or being active, this leads to high obesity, depression, and diabetes. Beltway, Brenda. Personal Interview. 20 December. 2013. ) Eating a few more vegetables and going outside for a run once in a while is a small price to pay for preventing harmful and painful diseases. In like manner, another important benefit of living a healthy life is having better mental health. Eating well and exercising can help you from becoming depressed and can even sharpen your memory. Making smart lifestyle choices about eating healthy and staying active can improve your mind and give you a better and happier outlook on life. Morris) Food is the fuel of our body. If we fill it with unhealthy foods its not going to work as well as a odd that has eaten proteins, vegetables, and more healthy foods. Eating healthy means eating exactly three meals a day. (Beltway, Brenda. Personal Interview. 20 December. 2013. ) Have you ever skipped a meal and became very hungry and irritated? That’s because your body needs the three meals. Without eating them your mood becomes annoyed or light headed. Certain healthy foods help to increase serotonin levels in the brain, which improve your mood.

Also some foods like chicken, eggs, nuts, yogurt, milk, soy, help wake you up or give you energy, without eating or ranking sugar. (Bali) They say to drink Storage or a soda to give you energy, although they don’t tell you how bad those drinks really are for you. They are loaded with high fructose corn syrup and sugar. Instead of drinking soda, try chocolate milk; it gives you energy, without all the sugars. The foods we eat influence our brain messengers or neurotransmitters. These brain messengers communicate between nerve cells and control mood, appetite, thoughts and behaviors.

They generate feelings of happiness, mental alertness and calmness. (Healthy Eating and your Mood) Thus, the healthier the foods you eat and the more exercising you do can make you happier, calmer, and give you more energy. Finally, the last important benefit of having a healthy lifestyle I found was decreasing obesity rate. Eating right and exercising controls your weight. Exercising burns off calories which helps you maintain a healthy weight. Staying within your recommended daily calorie intake and eating moderately sized meals also helps you maintain a healthy weight throughout your life.

This also helps your metabolism function quicker or more effectively. Fitness) Your metabolism is what turns the food into fuels and burns up the calories. Eating healthy and staying active can help your metabolism and help you control your weight to lower your percentage of obesity. From my research about the important benefits of a healthy lifestyle, I learned that living a healthy lifestyle is easy to maintain and can prevent diseases, cause better mental health, and lower obesity. I learned many new facts about being healthy and active that are useful to me in my daily life.

I encourage others to maintain a healthy lifestyle in hopes that they can live longer, happier, and healthier life. My research was a success because I found a lot of helpful websites that helped me write about my topic. Also, the person I interviewed told me a lot about the topic that which was very interesting and helpful to me. I learned a lot more about the importance of eating right and exercising. This topic is very interesting to me and I hope one day I could further my research into a career as a nutritionist and help others be aware of the important benefits of living a healthy life.
