Dana Scarlet’s Validly Irony In the play Antigen by William Shakespeare there are many forms of dramatic irony that take place throughout the play, Antigen was a play written by Sophocles and is one of the most popular plays in the history of our literature. The play is seen through the eyes of the chorus. They refer to past events that have happened in Antigen’s life. The Chorus also knows of the actor’s thoughts and moves but the actors have no knowledge of the chorus’s existence. The major conflict throughout the play is that Antigen and her sister, Semen.
Are both in love with Hammond. He unexpectedly proposes to Antigen who was the less pretty of the two sisters. Semen Is boy crazy while Announce dreams of a world without men. Throughout the play Antigen has a very close knit relationship with the nurse of the town. One example of dramatic Irony In the play Antigen Is when Antigen calla’s Croon “The Worthy Croon”. We all know this Is false because Antigen hates croon because all he cares about is his power and seems to not care about anything but that. He distances himself from the family and only worries of his political and social order.

Another form of dramatic Irony In the play Antigen is when king Croon is informed that someone has broken one of his forsaken laws he asked himself, “what man would do this” when in reality it wasn’t a man at all, it was his own Niece Antigen. The Irony is the audience knew all along that Antigen was the one who had broken Screen’s law. A major conflict throughout the play was what they were going to do with the body of Policies weather to bury him or not. Croon had stated on numerous occasion’s throughout the play that the body would not be burled but at the end of the play he ends up burying the body anyways and evolving the prophecy.
Antigen Is scheduled to marry her first cousin Hammond. However the marriage was postponed due to Antigen being sentenced to death by her own uncle Croon and soon to be father In law. I find it very weird that they are having an arranged marriage within there own family. Instead of being married Antigen is forced to sit in a prison tomb on her wedding day and wait to be sentenced to death. Antigen’s prison outfit is described as her wedding dress and her march to her prison cell is like she’s walking down the isle to be given her wedding vows her final breaths of air after hanging herself are her marriage to death.
