The differences between Hinduism and Jainism The differences between Hinduism and Jainism Jainism and Hinduism are two religions of the world that show differences between them when it comes to their concepts and religious beliefs. Three principles of Jainism are non-violence, non-absolutism and non-possession. Jainism believes that man should treat all living beings of the world as his own. Hinduism stresses the importance of serenity of living beings. The division of social order is the basic principle mentioned in the texts of Hinduism.
Hinduism believes there are four stages of human life the stage before marriage, the stage after marriage, the stage during retirement and the stage of renunciation of worldly affairs. These stages should be experienced by all men (Difference Betwween. com, 2011). Jainism does not separate the division of human beings into various classes. It also does not separate the different stages of human life either. Jainism does speak about the virtue of non-possession. This virtue is referred as the complementary virtue of non-violence (Difference Betwween. com, 2011).
Wealth, clothes, house, family and one’s own body is considered possessions in the Jainism religion. Man should live without any sort of attachment towards them. This is the underlying principle of Jainism. In conclusion Jainism and Hinduism have different concepts and religious beliefs.
