With dropping the power output ill help increase stability if there is a lot of interference with outside noise. This node might not need the extra performance or the extra distance a higher transmit power would generate. 2. What do access point connectivity statistics collected for the roaming station show? It looks like to me within the statistics that the 1st line stays connected for seconds, the 2nd line drops for 2 seconds then up for 8 seconds, the 3rd line same thing with drops for 2 seconds then up for 8 seconds.

I would have to say that there seems to be some interference with the start of the 2nd & 3rd line but it still looks constant overall as staying unconnected. 3. What do you think the Wireless LANA control traffic received by the roaming bob node when it is in the engineering building is composed of? It looks like from the picture that it is composed of bits/second. 4. How much did our roaming node reduce the total throughput in our heavily loaded WALL? It looks like the results start at around 23,000,000 to 25,000,000 bits/second from 1 second to 11. Seconds. Then when the roaming node came into the room at 1 1. 2 seconds the rate went from to bits/ second from 11. 2 seconds to 21 seconds. At 21 seconds the rate went from 9,500,000 back up to 25,000,000 bits/second. This continued from 21 seconds till 30 seconds or the end of the test. 5. What caused this reduction in “godhood” on the 1 leg WALL? As in question 4 and shows on the graph of the roaming node as how it dropped in data rate instantly when entering the room.

I would have to say that this reduction was caused from the roaming node. General Questions Concerning Mixing bob and 1 leg Clients Guidelines: Answer each of the following questions using knowledge gained from the lab, readings from the textbook, and individual research on the Web. Answer all questions in full college-level sentences and paragraphs. 6. Supposedly, 802. Bob is backwards compatible with 802. 1 leg, yet this lab demonstrates there are significant problems with allowing the two to coexist.

What is the primary incompatibility between b and g? As it stated and from our results in the lab there is a major issue with running both modes. Running both B and G in mixed mode will most likely bring the speeds down on the G nodes to almost around B speeds. The G nodes will not perform at the intended speeds. Might even use connectively between the nodes. (Camp, 2013) 7. There is another mechanism besides ARTS/ACTS that helps the incompatibility. Explain riffle the difference between ARTS/ACTS and ACTS-to-self and when each is used.

This helps with transmitting only when there is no traffic in the air. This helps with slow transmission and get better performance overall. The ARTS is request to send it sends out to a node and then the ACTS is clear to send the requested information when the air is clear and is able to send data with interruption. The throughput is also reduced with the extra frames. (Camp, 2013) 8. What is the protection scheme talked about in the standard? In short, how do 1 leg nodes know that an 1 b node is associating and how is KICK involved?

Those standards re to be followed. From backwards compatibility to each person being able to use mixed venders hardware and having them work. KICK is invoked with using a 648 bit word. This results in higher data rates. (Camp, 2013) 9. In addition to the added overhead of the ARTS/ACTS scheme, what else causes the drop in throughput you see? Are there other factors that can affect the throughput? This again is the extra frames needed for the ARTS/ACTS and makes the throughput go down.

Yes for example if a lot of nodes are connected to the same access point then the throughput can go down. This even occurs if the data rates are high o begin with the throughput will be lower because of the shared bandwidth between the connected nodes. (Camp, 2013) 10. In situations where 802. 1 leg and 802. Bob are coexisting, what steps might you take to minimize the impact of the presence of the legacy nodes? I would have separate access points to help with the load of each B and G card nodes.

Also by trying to space the different cards out from one another so the radio waves don’t mess each other. Sometimes this might not be possible but having separate access points instead of a mixed signal will help with the interferences they have with one another. (Camp, 201 3) Conclusion Include a minimum of two paragraphs that describe what you accomplished in the lab, what you learned from performing it, how it relates to this week’s Tacos and course material, and how you feel it will benefit you in your academic and professional career.

In the end I learned a lot this week with the reading and with the II-ABA assignment. I learned that by having a mixed Band G environment that it will bring havoc on the speeds from the connected nodes. The B cards will slow down a little bit but might maintain the constant speeds. While G cards will slow way down to almost around B speeds. With this IL ABA this week it showed on the sets that a roaming wireless B client entering the room with other G clients and the performance almost comes to a halt from what speeds they were all running at.
