Volcanoes Assignment Words: 945

The I-km-wide, 240-m-deep Arenas crater occupies the summit. Steep headwalls of massive landslides cut the flanks of Nevada Del Uric, the melting of its summit icecap during historical eruptions, which date back to the 1 6th century, has resulted in devastating Lars, including one in 1985 that was South America’s deadliest eruption. 1985 Rammer mud flow disaster – Nevada Del Uric erupted on 13 November 1985, a relatively small eruption in 1985 caused a devastating mud flow that swept through the town of Rammer killed almost 25,000 people in the town of Rammer, marking one of he worst volcanic disasters in history.

Sadly, this tragedy could have been easily avoided if clear warnings by paleontologists had been taken seriously. The event caused a heated debate because government officials chose to ignore paleontologists’ warnings of the imminent danger of the advancing liar. The tragedy was South America’s worst and globally the 4th worst volcanic known disaster. The eruption Was even more tragic, because the same event had already occurred at least 2 times during earlier eruptions.

Primary Effects: Pocketed; The primary effects of the most recent explosion to Pocketed on April 30, 996, the volcano spewed gas and ash which was carried as far as km away by prevailing winds. The activity prompted the evacuation of nearby towns and scientists to begin monitoring for an eruption. Luckily only 5 people died during this eruption and the rest were at safe distance from it. Nevada Del Uric; The primary effects Of the eruption in 1985 were mud flows, burying anything in its path. With proper planning, this tragedy could have been averted.

Homes and lands were destroyed and if only people had taken the warnings seriously, more victims might have survived, but they did NT. They were buried m down in the mud flow. Secondary Effects: Flights flying over the volcano sucked up air; the tiny abrasive ash particles of rock and glass produced by the eruption destroyed and damaged the jet engines and turbines, causing the aircrafts to plummet from the sky. -Case Study Project-” The 1985 Nevada Del Uric eruption in western Colombia, South America, took place high in the Andes Mountains.

A cloud of hot gas from the volcano melted the snow cap and nearby glaciers, releasing huge quantities of water. This, combined with ash and rock debris from the eruption, formed a liar that was 40 m deep. It rushed downhill at speeds of up to 50 km/h, engulfing the town of Rammer, km away, in over mm of mud, more than 23,000 people lost their lives. Precaution: Apocalypses erupts with ash, causing flights to be suspended to and from Mexico City international airport on April 30, 1996. IIS airlines have decided to ground more than 40 flights as a precaution.

Situated around 55 km from Mexico City, since Apocalypses is one of the world’s most active volcanoes US Airways, Delta, United, American and Alaska Airlines all cancelled flights on this day. The routes affected by the cancellations were flights to Houston, Dallas, Denver, Phoenix, Chicago and Los Angels. American Airlines spokesman said in a statement that it had taken the action as a precaution. “We are closely monitoring the situation in Mexico City as volcanic ash continues to be emitted from Apocalypses,” said American Airlines spokesman Matt Miller.

Nevada Del Uric; Hundreds of people who lived along the river draining from the volcano had also been evacuated as a precaution and the alert level still remained at Orange (suggesting an eruption in “days to weeks”. ) Even with this relatively low level of activity at Uric, the economic impact of the activity was being felt already – the airports in the region (Mainsails, Premier and Armenia) had been closed for almost three weeks with hundreds of cancelled flights, causing some fears that companies at the airport would start to close due to the loss of business. Case Study Project-” Conclusion: Medic’s have the money to spend on improving the country’s establishment and therefore it is more likely to have the resources and technology to help decrease the damage from a volcanic eruption. Using the technology, they can also predict when a volcano is probably going to erupt. In a MEDIC Zone, he people are more educated and know what to do in a situation like a volcanic eruption. They are aware of how they are supposed to deal with it and protect themselves and others. They are also able to evacuate people if needed.

An LED Zoned Country does not have enough money to spend on the protection of the country and its people from a volcanic eruption. They do not have advanced technology or resources like Medic’s so they cannot predict when a volcano is going to erupt. Population may not be well educated about what to do in the event of a volcanic eruption. Evacuation and other emergency plans can be hard during an eruption because of the limited resources and money. Construction standards are usually poor and so chances for the buildings and homes to suffer is high when a volcanic eruption occurs.

After an eruption, the Medics are usually quick in clearing up all the ash and rebuilding homes for the people, whereas, for the Lead’s it can be difficult and may take a long time. As you can tell from this report, the Nevada Del Uric volcanic eruption was worse than the Apocalypses eruption, even though people were given warnings about the volcano, people didn’t do anything, where they should eave. That is why there was such a loss, the land and crops were an understandable loss but nearly 23,000 people!
