This saying may be overused and many people think that it’s just pure advertising but it is completely necessary and important. Industrial pollution means contamination due to industries. Industry contributes to many types of pollutants to the environment. They are mainly in gas, water, and solid forms and they can cause severe problems to the bio systems. Industries are the main problem of pollution because people buy products that factories produce.
Factories generate pollutants divided into three major categories specifically gas, solid, and water. New regulations are promoting he implementation of environmental friendly technologies and integrated pollution management strategies such as end of pipe technology. This is an approach to pollution control that focuses on the filtration Of the waste that is discharged from factories, industries, etc. Many countries are affected by pollution and face different problems. In developed countries the environmental burden caused by industries is very substantial.
For developed and developing countries, technology based industries created more problems because of the use of toxic material in their procedures that can cause soil and water contamination (Handbook, Beijing, peg. 4). Many factories dump their waste materials in their closest surroundings. The problem with environmental protection is that industrial growth may be the best way to direct research and development to obtaining a sustainable environment. For this the industries would need clean, non-contaminated areas and they are difficult to find (Handbook, Beijing, peg. 4).
The traditional toxins and the newly found both work well together which makes the environment protection a lot harder to resolve. The usual industries in developed countries are steel mills, mining activities, textile industries, nunneries and pulp and paper industries (Handbook, Beijing, peg. 4). Industrial air pollution is mostly the emission of gaseous substances created by evaporation, chemical reactions and faucet discharges. The main air contaminants from industrial pollution include gaseous emissions and particulate emissions. Finding clean water has always been a problem especially for the isolated poor.
Drinking water has become the villain for many and has been named “the greatest poisoning in human history’ (Kinney & Hosing, 2003, peg. 22). The problem with that is that the industries pollute and cause damage to the environment and people. There are two ways through which pollution can be reduced.
One is to reduce the consumption of the polluting product and the other is to use treatments of wastes, discharges and disposals of a pollutant. It is almost impossible and economically impractical to remove pollution form the environment with today’s technology. After there are contaminants in the IR they are stuck floating around. A contaminated substance that is more curable than industrial pollution is water. Dirty water is the world’s biggest health risk, and continues to threaten quality of life. Clean and plentiful water is the cornerstone of prosperous communities. As we are in the 21 SST century, swelling demand and changing limited patterns are draining rivers and aquifers and pollution is threatening the quality of what remains. Contaminated water does not only affect people but sea creatures too. Many of them die because of the toxic waste that is dumped in the ocean from boats. Most cruise ships illegally dump enormous amounts of waste into the ocean.
If you dump the waste out into the sea, it Will eventually come back to the land. This affects everywhere both ways then. The garbage from cruise ships is supposed to be incinerated, grinded, compacted or crushed. Instead it is just dumped in the ocean as it is. In Nathan, Massachusetts, there was a beach that was found with huge amounts of garbage due to a cruise ship that sailed close to there a month before. In this garbage there was a huge amount of human excrement, toilet paper, rubber gloves, flip-flops, plastic bottles, dental floss, condoms, personal hygiene items, all coated by brownish foam (Walker, 2012).
This is not only disgusting to listen to but it is also disturbing how people don’t care and dump anything they want into the waters. Once the fish are contaminated by the algae and if they are caught and sold to the markets, that can affect people. If the fish die in the ocean, that contaminates the water even more. There have been many cases in which people die from seafood. Most of the toxins are “heat-stable”, meaning that no matter how much you cook the food the toxins still stay in it. Contaminated seafood can cause paralysis or other neurological problems that are two serious issues that should be promptly treated by medical personnel.
Although the poisoning can be a big problem, there are ways to treat it. It is generally accepted that the incidence of problems associated with toxic algae is growing. Some reasons to maybe explain this growth include natural exchanges of species dispersal from the currents and tides to host human- related actions such as nutrient enrichment, climate shifts Or transport of algae species via ship ballast water (Dover). There are now many organizations that are trying to help marine wild life. One very important one is the Channel Islands Marine and Wildlife Institute.
They are dedicated to make a difference through marine mammal rescue, rehabilitation, research and education to promote ocean and human health. Pollution in both water and the air are huge issues. The difference between both is that the water pollutants are easier to treat than air pollution. Factories are not the only ones that cause pollution but also by cars, buses, trains, airplanes, etc. Industrial pollution is one of the leading causes of pollution in the world. In the United States up to 50% of the nations pollution is caused by industry.
The Environmental Protection Agency notes that because of the size of the industrial pollution it is serious for the entire world. They can remove 80 to 85 percent of the energy in fuel, significantly lowering the air pollution compared to facilities where electricity and heat are produced individually. There is only one goal: make the electricity and use the heat that would otherwise be wasted. Generation is probably one of the best inventions of our era. It is used very much in Europe already but it is the exception not the rule in the United States.
Most of the nations generations are mostly in small facilities, operated in college campuses, military bases or offices, hospitals and other commercial facilities. Reducing air pollution can be accomplished in many ways. Proper maintenance such as cleaning the soot from surfaces, tune-ups and reducing excess air can help very much. Switching from coal or oil to a natural gas that can also reduce the operating costs and extends the industry lifetime by eliminating decomposition and other damage from pollution-rich products. Traces of industrial pollution have also been showed in human, animal and plant populations. Industrial pollution damages the environment in so many ways. There are no positive ways that pollution can help anything or anyone. It damages human lives and health. Contamination can damage animal and plants as well. It can change the normal balance of the ecosystems and damage air quality, damage buildings and basically damage quality of life.
The people who work in factories are especially at harm. In our time now people are becoming more and more aware about how pollution is damaging our earth. Raising awareness has actually even become popular to people. People are recognizing that they have an obligation to protect themselves and others from pollution. Industrial pollution also shows another issue: the fact that people have the desire to develop better products and standards Of living. First world tankards are mostly the cause of industrial pollution.
People always want something better such as cars, toys or new technology. As many countries industrialized they add a global burden of industrial pollution. Serious discussions and arguments about environmental responsibility and a desire to reach global agreement on pollution issues have been raised. Industrial pollution has declined after the sass’s but it is still a big problem today. Europe has bettered their industry manners by making them generation factories. If the united States would make their factories this way it would change so much.
The “go green” saying has been overused but no one actually takes much action with it.
