According to the EPA, air pollution indoors is often two to five times worse than it is outside. This is a serious issue people have to be concerned of because indoor air can lead to different health problems. In addition, although air pollution outdoors is bad, indoor air is more dangerous for our health. Firstly, smoking inside the house causes the indoor air pollution. People who smoking don’t just risk their health to lung cancer and heart diseases but also the others who breathe the same air. In addition, according to Jon Roberts, doctor, second hand smokers are responsible for causing asthma symptoms for million children every year.
It is the parents and people around them who risk the children health. On the other hand, unfortunately smoking inside of a building remains for a long time inside of the walls (BAG, 2010). This means even if the cigarettes shut down the smoking do not stops because the released nicotine will remain there even for years. Obviously, that nicotine is breathed by the other people inside. Thus, smoking is a serious factor that causes indoor air to affect people’s health. Secondly, indoor air pollution results because of released gases in air. In homes people everyday cook their meals in their cooker where most of them are with gas.
The released gas is harmful for peoples health because it may cause irritation in nose, ear and through. In a study done by Martinez et al (Ian aura, 2012) where studied mothers who used gas cooker for their everyday meals. It resulted that 44% of gas cookers were presented and proved that the children of those mothers were more in danger to health problems. In addition, the wood that is used to heat the house but also in alluding it is another factor that releases such air that for the moment may not be seen but during the time unconsciously it will affect people’s health.
Both the woods and gas stoves release carbon dioxide which can have short and long term disease in our body. In addition to released gases and smoking the different chemicals result in indoor air pollution. Numerous chemicals, like cleaning supplies, hair sprays and perfumes, are used inside the home. Ever woman wants her home to be clean; her hair to look beautiful and her skin to smell good but this beauty ay have negative effect on the air and health itself. The reason is because all of these chemicals products contain toxic. As Dry.
Loretta Lankier (2008) says, “Perfume-wearing people are toxic to the world, and they create a toxic workplace filled with poisonous, cancer-promoting chemicals that cause healthy people to gasp for breath. ” According to the doctor perfumes are bad habit to the society because they transfer toxic everywhere presented. In addition, related to the cleaning supplies, they may cause problem breathing cause the chemicals contained in there are too strong for our organism to observe. Thus, different chemicals may affect indoor air pollution.
People spending a lot of time indoors may have psychiatric problems such as depression. Sometimes staying inside for a long time makes people feel more depressed. From a personal experience, I have felt this before. When I stayed home for a long time doing nothing, I started to feel tiered and unmotivated. I was depressed from the monotony of the room I was staying. I realize it was all because of the air inside which made my body feel tired. In addition, realized that in the morning if I don’t open a window just for a while the air stinks but also makes me feel sad.
Therefore, I believe that indoor air has reaction with the person’s psychiatric feelings. As a conclusion, indoor air quality is very important in humans life because we spend most of our life there. While smoking inside of our homes and workplaces we endanger ourselves and people around us because damage the air with smoke, the released gases which come from our daily cooking affect our well being, moreover the chemicals we use to look better outside an damage us from inside. And the last but not least is the psychical mood people obtain in an indoor air.
