Earth Pollution Causes and Effects Assignment

Earth Pollution Causes and Effects Assignment Words: 1170

My name is Algorithm, Abdullah I just turned 21 years old and my home town is Medina. Have been interested in science and engineering since I was a kid, so I followed my childhood dream. Currently I’m a student in SPLIT in Saudi Arabia majoring in chemical engineering. I like facing the life challenges and try to adjust myself so I could beat them up. Earth pollution has been a major issue all over the world and it’s causing us a lot of troubles like the climate change and its effects globally or the water polluting and the consequences of it. This report demonstrates some of the main causes of

Earth pollution and their effects on the planet and how the pollution could be lethally on us and the possible affective solution that will increase the chances of a clean healthy life in the future. There are many types of pollution such as air, water, soil and noise pollution. Each one of them has different effects on the planet like the global warming which is a result of polluting the air with the emissions of fossil and oil fuels burning especially ICC. Possible solutions for the contaminations are green energies such as solar and wind energies.

All these solutions are clean and enable sources of energy which are being developed in the mean time. Sustainable and clean sources of energies like solar and wind energies.. Air Pollution Air pollution refers to all the bad changes which are happening to our atmosphere. These harmful changes are subject to many known and unknown reasons. When focusing the lights on oil and fossil fuels burning it appears that they are major contributors to these contaminations. The biggest causes are the operation Of fossil fuel burning power plants and automobiles that combusted fuel.

Combined, these two sources are responsible for about 90% of all air pollution in the United States”(SO Burning the fossil fuels (coal, gasoline, etc… ) result in releasing a lot of dangerous gases like ICC, CO, NO, etc… Such gases are available in the atmosphere by limited quantities but we they raise up they cause a lot of serious threats. Serious effects can occur by polluting the air in many shapes and they can be short-term or long-term effects. Children and elderly people will be affected much more than the others.

Asthma, heart and long diseases are possible to happen if people are exposed to many kinds of dangerous chemicals which considered to be a short-term pollution. When humans are exposed to mutinous lethal gases they might get a heart, lung and liver diseases. Pollutants result in damages to the planet like acid rains, smog, heavy metal emissions. Water Pollution Fresh Water comes from many sources such as rivers, streams, lakes and artificially distilled water which can be polluted in two ways directly which is called point source pollution and indirectly which is called non-point source pollution.

Directly polluted water can be carried by sewage pipes that empty their contents in water or by pouring the harmful chemicals and livestock waste directly into rivers or lakes. Disposals of factories and manufacturers cause Oxygen shortage in water which leads to dead creatures. Heated water that comes from the cooling systems of power plants directly to the water called thermal pollution which results in destroyed animals and plants. When fuels are burned they produce dirt and ashes which lay on the surface water this contamination categorized under in direct pollution.

Humans waste in its different kinds lead to horrible consequences that affects lots of life kinds. Water pollution threaten our existence by killing fish, birds, dolphins and other creatures result in unbalanced CEO-systems which involves mankind. When oil is spilled on water surface it prevents the Sun light form going through water surface which destroys under-water plants which leads to shortage in seafood. Solar Energy The sun radiation towards the Earth can be converted to heat and electrical power and heating.

This energy can be converted in two methods. It could be converted by the solar cells which changes the sunlight directly into electrical power or by using those cells to collect thermal energy which is used to heat a fluid that produces steam to generate electrical power in energy plants or to liver heat for houses in winter. Solar cells is the common name for Photovoltaic or IV cells which are mainly made of silicon alloys. Using the energy will provide appear. Zero harmful emissions energy also will reduce the noise pollution caused by power generators.

This huge source of energy could provide sufficient power supply to road lights by storing this energy in batteries for dark hours use. Cars can use solar energy by converting the received light into IV cells directly to energy to operate them. Satellites depend entirely on the Sun’s energy either by directly using the power or by tiring it. Since this type of energy is being developed nowadays it has two major problems that haven’t been fixed yet. The amount of sunlight arrives to the surface of Earth isn’t constant every. Veer which might be caused by the clouds or the location of the cells or the time of the day.

Solar cells need large areas to catch as much as they could because the sunlight distribution is not equal. Wind Energy Wind contains a lot of unseen energy which cost nothing compared to other types Of energies. Wind energy is discovered centuries ago, which Was used in milling only. Nowadays, this huge energy is used in producing electrical power by using blades to collect the wind’s kinetic energy. The blades of the turbine use the kinetic energy stored in the winds which make the generator cycles and produces electricity. The turbines usually produce about 50 to 300 kilowatts of electricity each. A kilowatt is 1,000 watts (kilo means 1 ,OOH). You can light ten 100 watt light bulbs With 1,000 watts. So, a 300 kilowatt (300,000 watts) wind turbine could light up 3,000 light bulbs that use 100 watts! ” (SO). Wind is called a renewable energy source because the wind will blow as long s the sun shines. Wind energy doses ‘t generate any green house gases and doesn’t cause any troubles to the living organisms giving that it is considered to be one of the most sufficient green energy sources available.

Today, wind energy is mainly used to generate electricity. With the new wind machines, there is still the problem of what to do when the wind isn’t blowing. At those times, other types of power plants must be used to make electricity. Conclusion To sum up, polluting the Earth can be in many harmful methods. Air and water are the most affected by direct and non-direct contaminations. To reverent such things nations have to consider substituting the oil energy by sustainable and renewable sources of energy like solar energy and wind energy.
