Air Pollution Assignment

Air Pollution Assignment Words: 833

Air Pollution is anything that goes into the air that is harmful. Most air pollution is manmade. The largest contributor to air pollution is the burning of fossil fuels such as gas and coal. Air pollution can also be said is the accumulation in the atmosphere of substances that, in sufficient concentrations, endanger human health or produce other measured effects on living matter and other materials. Among the major sources of air pollution are power and heat generation, the burning of solid wastes, industrial processes, and, especially, transportation.

The six major types of air Laotians are carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, particulates, sulfur dioxide, and photochemical oxidants. One Of the air pollution is acid rain. Acid rain is some of the sulfur dioxide gases released as waste products from factories, cars, and power plants mix with water vapor in the atmosphere to produce acid rain . Rain is slightly acidic, but when mixed with such chemicals as sulfuric acid and nitric acid, it can reach dangerous levels.

Acid rain can damage soil, crops, and forests as well as eat away at the outer surfaces of buildings. In some places, acid rain hat has fallen into lakes and rivers has caused severe harm to the animals and plants living there. Acid rain has affected many parts of the United States and Canada, as well as countries in northern and western Europe and parts of Asia example China. The wind can carry pollutants great distances from their source, many areas have suffered devastating effects of acid rain without being responsible for the chemical waste that caused it.

Next is about carbon monoxide. From The American Heritage, Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition copyright by Houghton Muffling Company, arbor monoxide means a colorless, odorless, highly poisonous gas, CO formed by the incomplete combustion of carbon or a carbonaceous material, such as gasoline. This gas can is most probably can be found in smoke of vehicles. Besides in home, it IS form incomplete combustion from any flame- fueled device such as ovens, clothes dryers, grills, space heaters and also water heaters.

Carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning can result in unconsciousness, permanent brain damage and death. All this can happen by the inhalation of CO into our body system. When carbon monoxide is inhaled, it passes from the lungs into the mentioning molecules of red blood cells to form chronologically. Chronologically interferes with the oxygen transport and gas exchange abilities of red blood cells. The results is that the body become oxygen-starve which can result in tissue damage and finally death. Besides that, nitrogen oxide also is one of the air pollution that bring harm to us.

Nitrogen oxide (Knox) is a group of different gases made up of different levels of oxygen and nitrogen. Two of the most common nitrogen oxides are Nitrogen Dioxide and Nitric Oxide. United State Environment Protection Agency (EPA) states that Knox is form when certain fuels are burn at a high imperative, such as combustion and also from the plants that manufacture explosive. There are high level of Knox presents in our country. This is due to many factory use coal-burning plants for power or energy.

Besides CO, Knox also can be found from motor vehicles too. Knox is a poisonous gas which can caused acid rain. It also contributes to global warming and also effect the growth of plant. There are many of Knox affect on human such as small levels of Knox can caused nausea, irritated eyes and fluid forming in lungs which can caused shortness of breath. Moreover, breathing in high levels of Knox can dead to rapid burning spasms, swelling of throat reduce oxygen intake a larger buildup of fluids in lung and finally death.

Toxic pollution poss. health risk to over 1 00 million people, particularly children, in low-and middle-income countries. This is finite problem that can be solve in our lifetime. There are some steps that have been taken to reduce the level of air pollution of the world. For example the EPA has standard for KNOX pollution on every types Of motor vehicle. Besides for plant, EPA has set a special rules for upwind states. As a responsible human being, we also have to take serious of this pollution issues. Only do the simple thing, we can reduce the amount a person drives alone by carpool.

We also can supports efforts to use renewable, nonpolluting power sources in our daily life. Almost all people in every county is a smoker. So, by reducing or not smoking cigarettes will reduce world air pollution. People also restricts prohibited from make an open burning to avoid global warming on earth. As a conclusion we people must have initiative and together help to improve our air pollution problem. So that, we and our younger generation can live with a healthy lifestyle in a healthy environment.
