The book Totally Joe, starts with Joe writing a letter to a teacher who assigned a alphabetically project. In this letter he writes about how at first he thought the assignment was lame and boring. After he is done talking about that, he tells the teacher Mr.. Daly to keep everything in the alphabetically a secret. This shows how much he trusts his teacher. In the first A, his chapter is about his oldest friend, Eddie. Him and Eddie met when he was four when Joe first moved across the street.
The ext letter after A, which is B (which stands for boy) is really important because this talks about how he doesn’t act like a “guy-guy ” like his brother Jeff and his dad do and how he does not fit in. Also Joe is going out with Colic Briggs, somebody he had a crush on since fifth grade. Joe is now twelve. Joe describes Colic as: Totally cool Smart A Sock Really nice, Even to everybody even if they are not totally cool, a Sock, really nice or popular. Popular Cute Seriously cute Especially when he smiles. You might think how does somebody like Joe, end up with somebody like Colic.
It all starts when Colic leaves a note in his locker say “l wish I could be more like you. ” Joe thinks this is from Bobby’s crush at the time, Kelsey. The Review: The first important part is when Colic and Joe are at the dance and Kevin (somebody that bullies Joe) and his friend Jimmy (somebody who is popular because he is Seven’s evil sidekick) go over to them and they start making kissing noises. This makes Colic very uncomfortable. Now I am skipping to H for Halloween, Joey’s second favorite holiday. Colic and Joe go dressed as Bert and Ernie with the gang of five, Dustman,
Kelsey, and her friends. Colic and Joe are walking home with Colic’s sister holding hands with the sister with Joe on one side and Colic on the other. Colic’s sister runs off, and Colic holds hands with Joe for five seconds Coke’s dream is to hold hands with somebody he loves and that happening right now) during those five seconds Kevin and Jimmy spot them holding hands and the are scared they will tell the whole school. The next day they sure tell the whole school. Joe and Colic are so mad and they start getting made fun of.
This leads up to Colic reeking up with Joe because he can’t take people making fun of him. Later they see each other and become friends when Joe is with Bobby buying a movie and they see Colic and Joe. They wait in line together and talk a little. When there is a school meeting Joey’s parents come home outraged. They are denying GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) because of Seven’s mom talking about how she is a good Christian and how it is against the bible. And soon the principal allows AS. Later in the book it is no name day and Kevin calls Joe F@#got. Joe stands up for himself and reports him to Life: Hand and Joe BY 232145
Totally Joe By James Howe tells the principal everything Kevin has done to everybody. After this it turns out Kevin will not be coming back to school. He now goes to a school called SST.
