Political Thought and Lit Mr.. Burnable, Mr.. Block Pre Into The Wild Mock Trial Is Chris Mishandles guilty of intentionally causing mental anguish to his parents Walt and Billie Mishandles? Chris Mishandles did not like being told what to do by his parents or any one else. He could not take it because people kept on telling him what to do. So, he decided to leave society and go into the wild. He planned on coming back but little did he know he would end up dead. Now we are bringing Chris back to fife to see if he’s is guilty or not guilty of causing mental anguish to Walt and Billie, his parents.
This is a civil case where the Jury has to see if there is truly evidence to convict him by a 51 percent vote. Chris is absolutely guilty of causing his parents mental anguish. He is guilty of causing his parent anguish for many reasons. He and his dad did not always get along because his dad Walt, was always telling him what to do, how to act and how to live life. Chris wanted to be independent and live life the way he wanted to live. He is not prepared to go into the wild, since he does not bring his map and compass.
He burned his map and compass. He is an impulsive person as well as psychologically damage. By him going to the wild he really committed suicide. He hurt his mom mentally and physically. Billie Mishandles, Chrism’s mom says this quote, “l Just don’t understand why he had to take those chances,” she protested through her tears. “l Just don’t understand it all. ” By Billie saying this quote she is actually saying that she is hurt mentally by Chrism’s decision to go into the wild. She is also hurt by the turnout of his decision to go into the wild.
Walt is so hurt by Chrism’s actions he does not see the goodness in his actions. As Walt says in a quote on page 203, ‘ Many people have told me that they admire Chris for what he was trying to do. If he lived, I would agree with them. But he didn’t and there’s no way to bring him back. You can’t fix it. Most things you can fix, but not that. I don’t know that you ever get over this type of loss. The fact that Chris is gone is a sharp hurt I feel every single day. It’s really hard. Some days are better than others but it’s going to be hard everyday for the rest of my life. He is saying that it is going to be hard for Walt to live life however he will try to. Also it was not k for Chris to go into the wild. He also is saying that Chris did cause mental harm, to both his parents especially his dad Walt. His dad can see why Chris left but is questioning if that was the best solution to his problem. “Seven weeks after the body of his son turned up in Alaska wrapped in a blue sleeping bag that Billie had sewn for Chris from a kit, Walt studies sailboat scudding beneath the window of his waterfront townhouse. How is it,’ he wonders aloud as he gazes blankly across Chesapeake Bay, that a kid with so much compassion could cause his parents so much pain? ” Walt is really showing that he and Billie are truly hurt by Chrism’s actions. They are saying that he cause too much pain how can he be not guilty.
