There are four mall approaches In the early years setting that have significantly influenced the current provision in the ASK. Children should be Involved In decision making and take responsibility.
This helps to develop self-confidence and build on what the child can do. Routines are also considered important so that children gain stability. To become confident, independent learners, children need consistency. We achieve this by our dally routine, the organization to the learning environment and in the ways adult TTS interact with children. The Hosepipe approach encourages active and independent learning by involving children in the planning, doing and reviewing of activities.
Plan: in a small group with an adult, children discuss which activities they intend to do. Do: children participate in the activities of their choice. Review: at the end of session the group come together again to reflect back on the session’s activities. Children are considered to be active learners and so play is used as the model for learning.
