Ethics on Plagiarism Plagiarism has become a major epidemic in our schools. Not only do we see it in Colleges among students of higher education, we also see it in high schools and now it is trickling down to our middle school children. Every body feels that it is the fault of a high tech internet world that is causing students to submit some one else’s work. But the truth be told there was a time before the internet, before the TV even that students would pay another student to do there work for them; they would find one of the brainy kids that would be willing to do the work for a price.
These students didn’t only do the essays, they also did all the school work for the student. While these brainy students went on to college and made a living out of creating essays, outlines and selling them to students in different academic courses. The students who had all there work done for them did not, because they did not take advantage of the education provided to them. Because some one else was always doing the work for them.
Students at your most prestigious colleges, such as Harvard and Yale, have been caught turning in plagiarized work. This is not a new battle we just started fighting, but an old war that has created new ways in getting around the rules. Students don’t use the work of other students because they are not smart or inferior to the subject, they just have do not study all the techniques given them in order to create their own work. This creates a lack of knowledge for the student.
There are also students out there that are just to busy with life’s demands to have the time to do the necessary work required of them in school, so they go looking for the internet sight that will create an essay for them. Now I have been searching these internet sights and have found no difference in any of them. They all offer an essay for a price, all you have to do is plug in the information needed to create the written work an for a large fee you have it in 4 to 5 days or faster for a little bit more.
Some sites offer an on the spot delivery of some one else’s work just pay a membership fee and they will let you go in and look at what subjects they carry and if you find the essay that best fits your needs (someone else wrote and submitted) then you pay another fee and it is ready for print. I was reading on one of these membership sites where a girl bought an essay and it is recommended to change it into your own words, but she did not and got a call from the dean of the school 2 hours after she turned it in. She got off retty easy a $400 fine and probation, plus she still has to submit an essay, an original. As you can see no one is going to pay a hundred dollars for an essay and then take the time to rewrite it, their mentality at this point is the work has already been done for me. So no matter how desperate you are at getting your work done, it is always best to plan ahead, set your time goal and be sure you have enough time to get it done in your own words. The deans, instructors and your college are designed and set up to filter out all work submitted that has been plagiarized.
