A worldview is the basis for making daily decisions. It is formed by our upbringing, education, the culture we live in, and the media we absorb. Everyone has one, even if they do not realize it. Three major themes of Christianity are faith, hope, and love. The first key theme to Christianity is faith. The meaning of faith is highly disputed in Christianity. In 2 Chronicles 20:20, Esophageal says, “Listen to me, Judas and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the LORD your God and you will be upheld; have faith in His prophets and you will be successful.
In the Protestant tradition, faith is generally understood to be closely associated with the ideas of belief, trust, and reliance. In the English vocabulary, faith is defined as “confidence or trust in a person or thing’, which is exactly correct. Some would say Christian faith is defined as the experience of living in a dynamic and new personal relationship with God, but most would say faith is basically a belief that is not based on proof. Often used to define faith is Hebrews 1 1:1, which is the most concise definition of faith found in the Bible.
It says, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. ” The Bible tells us that we have all been given a “measure of faith” by God to work with. Proving this for us is Romans 1 2:3, “For by the grace given to me say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. ” God also expects our faith in Him to grow over time.
Proof that our faith levels are capable of growing is shown in the passage 2 Thessalonians 1:3, which says, “We ought o always give thanks to God for you, brothers, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing. ” This verse shows that all you need is a small amount of faith to get God to start moving in your life. The Bible specifically tells us that we are saved by grace through faith. These two ideas together state that God has given each of us a certain amount of faith and expects it to grow throughout time.
Whether it does or does not grow, is completely up to us. Hebrews 1 1 states, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who moms to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him” which proves that God expects us to have faith in Him and will not be satisfied unless we do. There is the controversial idea that if we have faith in God, we will be blessed throughout our lives and God will help us through tough times. Matthew chapter 15:21-28 is an excellent example of this idea. This section is about ‘The Faith of the Canniest Woman”.
It talks about a Canniest woman who comes to Jesus crying about how her daughter is suffering from demon-possession, begging for help. Verse 28 states, “Then Jesus answered, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted. ” And her daughter was healed from that very hour. ” This example shows us that God will help us if we have faith in him. Faith is a purely spiritual substance inside each of us that can be allowed to grow or abate. Another major theme to the religious sanction of Christianity is hope. The definition of hope in the English vocabulary is ‘Shuffle thinking”, while the Biblical definition is “confident expectation”.
Christian hope is when God has promised that something is going to happen and we put our trust in His remises. Hope is distinctive from faith and love because it is exclusively directed towards the future. When hope has acquired its object, hope has been fulfilled and then becomes ownership. Christian hope is closely tied to the ultimate hope of the return of Jesus Christ as the judge of the living and the dead all throughout the New Testament, yet this religious hope does not eliminate midway hopes for lesser goods, or even for material blessings. Romans 10:17 tells us, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God”.
This implies that hope, like faith, is also strengthened by the word of God. Isaiah 38:29-31 voices that if we keep hope in God, he will take care of us. Verses 30-31 state, “Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. ” The Bible shows us that hope and faith are overlapping. Hebrews 1 says, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. ” This verse clearly shows the relationship between hope and faith, proving that hope is a major portion Of faith.
Hope is basically faith, in future tense. It is the firm assurance regarding things that are unclear and unknown. Without hope, life loses meaning, and in death, there is no hope. Colombians 1 proves the idea that hope and faith are connected. “The faith and love that spring from hope” also shows us that love is connected to hope. Timothy 4:17 expresses concern for those who are wealthy. This is extremely relevant to the Christian Worldview as well as today’s society due to the fact that ownership of material items is directly connected to social status.
It says, “Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God. It has been said many times, by many different people that the content of one’s wallet does not make them a better person. Hope is important to the Christian Worldview because it is putting our trust in Gods promise. The final and most important theme to Christianity is love. When we think Of love, we are tempted to focus on romantic love, but the Bible reminds us of God’s love for us and the commandment to love our neighbors. Love is known as the key to evangelism.
It is the basis for all Christian beliefs, such as Justice, Sacrifice, Service, Grace, and many more. Jesus said that loving one another, as well as loving ourselves is the basis for our Christian life. The kind of love that God was, and is, looking for can be read in several New Testament passages, one of them being Leviticus 1 9:18, which says, “Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. Am the LORD. ” The central theme of the bible is to love those around us. If we do that, God will support us in our quest to love those around us, as he clearly spells out in Isaiah 58:7. Is it not to share your food tit the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter– when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? ” This verse proves that love is a very important central theme to the bible. It clearly states that those more fortunate are responsible for helping those who are incapable of helping themselves. To share our food with the hungry, provide the wanderer with shelter, and clothe the naked. It has been said that the grounds for religion and true worship are to care for those who can’t care for themselves. This passage is raw proof of that idea.
