Then I put the result n my data table. Second I will record the length of reaction time with stopwatch when I pour peroxide liquid into the tube that has potato or meat that has been heated. Then I put the result in my data table. Variable Independent Variable : Heat Dependent Variable : length of the reaction time Constants Amount of peroxide liquid used, length of the heating time, temperature of boiling water. Method of Controlling Variables will consistently pour 5 ml peroxide liquid into the each tube that has potato or meat to see the reaction time.

I will consistently heat the potato and meat for minute each. To control the temperature of the boiling water when I heat the substrate, I will keep the hot water in heater with always point the number 7 for the temperature setting. Materials Stopwatch Test tube 6 little piece of potato (cut into square shape) 6 Little piece of meat Peroxide liquid Procedure Put each substrate in different tube. Don’t forget to label potato or meat. Pour 5 ml of peroxide liquid into the tube of substrate. Record the reaction time with stopwatch during the bubbles still on.

It’s mean the reaction still on. When the bubbles gone, it’s mean the reaction is stop. Try the experiment again until 3 times. Then put the result in data table. Put each substrate in different tube. Don’t forget to label potato or meat. Heat the substrate in boiling water for 1 minute. Pour 5 ml of peroxide liquid into the tube of substrate that has been heated. The reaction still on. When the bubbles gone, it’s mean the reaction is stop. Try the experiment again until 3 times. Then put the result in data table.

When I heated the substrate, the reaction between the substrate and the peroxide become slowly. Because the substrate have been denatured by heat that made the structure of the molecule broken. When I pour the peroxide into the test tube that has potato or meat that have en heated, we can see the bubbles acted more slowly than acted in normal condition of the substrate. We also can see in the graph and the data table. How the reaction have a longer time to act in heated condition than in the normal condition of substrate. There are possible weaknesses in my experiment. First, when I recorded the reaction time, the activation of bubbles in the last second wasn’t clear. So didn’t know what exactly time when the reaction was stop.

It can affect the accurately of the length of the reaction time and make this lab report become weak. Second, I didn’t measure the weight of each substrate that used. It’s also make the accurately time of results become weak and make this report become weak too. I could make any improvements on this lab. In the next experiment, I would like to test about the reaction time of enzymes when I heat the peroxide and the substrate. Are there any changes of reaction time if I heat them both? Will make sure to maintain the temperature, keep the amount of substrate always the same shape and weight, heat in the same minute and record carefully the time when the bubbles of the reaction in stop.
